We had an excellent turnout for the first part of this mission. There were 81 riders attending the escort of Pfc Meyer at John Wayne Airport and escorted him to the morturary.

We will meet at the morturary, Monday, 11 Feb 2008, Pacific View Park and Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Dr., Corona Del Mar, California 92625, at 0730 for the second stage of the mission..

The Patriot Guard will escort PFC Meyer to Saint John's Lutheran Church, 154 S Shaffer St. Orange, Ca. for services. The services will start at 1000 hrs. After services are over we will escort Pfc Meyer back to the Pacific View Park and Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Dr., Corona Del Mar, California 92625 for Military Honors.

Pfc Meyer will be arriving home on Saturday, 9 Feb 2008. The PGR will meet his aircraft at John Wayne Airport (SNA) and escort him and his family to the Pacific View Park and Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Dr., Corona Del Mar, California 92625.

His services will be on Monday, 11 Feb 2008 at Saint John's Lutheran Church, 154 S Shaffer St. Orange, Ca 92866 and the Military Honors will be at the Pacific View Park and Mortuary. The PGR will escort him from the Pacific View Park to Saint John's Lutheran Church and back to the Pacific View Park.

Times TBA.

We will stage in the parking lot on the corner of Campus Dr. and Quail St. near the South East corner of John Wayne Airport, just north of the toll road and Campus Dr. overpass.

Preliminary Itinerary:

On 09 Feb the PGR has been asked to be present when Pfc. Meyer arrives home. We will meet his Air Craft and escort him to Pacific View Memorial Park & Mortuary 3500 Pacific View Dr. Corona Del Mar
California 92625

On 11 Feb 2008 we will escort Pfc. Meyer from Pacific View to Saint John’s Lutheran Church 154 S Shaffer St Orange Ca.92866. Following the services the PGR will escort Pfc. Meyer back to Pacific View for Military Honors.

Exact times are not available at this time and will be posted ASAP.

DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of five soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died from wounds suffered when their unit encountered an improvised explosive device during convoy operations Jan. 28 in Mosul, Iraq. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
 
Killed were:
 
Sgt. James E. Craig, 26, of Hollywood, Calif.
 
Staff Sgt. Gary W. Jeffries, 37, of Roscoe, Texas.
 
Spc. Evan A. Marshall, 21, of Athens, Ga.
 
Pfc. Brandon A. Meyer, 20, of Orange, Calif.
 
Pvt. Joshua A. R. Young, 21, of Riddle, Ore.
