****Mission Update*****

Sgt Omar Mora is tentatively scheduled to come home on Thursday to Galveston AP. No time yet, we may not get that till Wednesday. We will stage at the Schlitterbahn an hour before his arrival. If you have ever been on an escort home from Scholes International Airport at Galveston you know the cooperation and respect shown by the airport staff and the local police departments is as good as it gets.

Services will be Saturday and we hope this will allow for a huge turn out to honor Sgt. Mora. Services will be at St. Marys in Texas City at 1000 with burial services at Forrest Park Cemetery. Have have stood for our fallen heroes at both this church and cemetery before.

A final itinerary will be released when we have a firm time on when Omar is coming home.

Please stand ready to honor Sgt Mora, his family and his community.

Sgt. Omar Mora was on the tail end of his second tour of duty and was schedule to come home in November from his 15 month tour. When returning from a night mission the vehicle Omar was in went off the road and he and six other soldiers along with two detainees were tragically killed.

Like many young Americans, Sgt. Mora joined the army after 9-11 in a sense of duty to country. He was promoted to Sgt in three years and wanted to join special forces. Omar came to the US when he as 2 years old and is classified as a permanent legal resident, to join special forces you have to be a citizen. Two weeks ago Sgt. Mora received his citizenship papers and was to sworn in as a citizen when he came home in November.

Sgt. Mora leaves behind a wife and 5 year old daughter, a brother an sister and his parents.

There is a lot of press reports going on about Sgt Mora and the Op-Ed story he and 7 other deployed Sgts wrote for the NY Times. Some say it was critical of the war and is a tool for the left. Other say it was 7 soldiers trying to get out what they have experiences on their tour, freedom of speech, a right they have defended.

Please understand this, none of this Op-Ed story or the media frenzy matters to the PGR.
This hero served two tours proudly serving his country. We will be there to honor him, his family and community when he comes home. This is what we do, we have no political stance, we stand for the those who stood for us.

Sgt Mora arrived at Dover last night. As of right now we do not know when he will be coming home or when his services will be. Please continue to stand ready to honor this fallen hero from our area.

JohnnyD

I am a PGR living in Southern CA, and an Army veteran who served with the 82nd Airborne and 7th SFG (ABN). Also, I grew up in Texas City, Texas, and my son is on his 3rd tour in Afghanistan.

I am writing to share with you this story in today's Fayetteville, NC, Observer newspaper. Link here http://www.fayobserver.com/article?id=272174

The article mentions that Sgt. Mora and SSgt. Gray were critics of the war in Iraq and a letter they wrote was published by the N.Y. Times. Gen. Petraeus this week was questioned about that article's conclusions.

My purpose in writing is not to demean these 2 soldiers because of their opinions to which they were certainly entitled. They are Heroes who paid the ultimate price and I'm proud my brother and sister PGRs will be there to honor them and serve their families.

My concern is that their published views may well attract more of the type of 'visitors' we are to shield from the families. I hope you Captains can get very large turnouts for these Soldiers. Kindly pass this along to the respective leaders in their states.

Thanks and Blessings to all and to the Families of these Heroes and the Brothers who died with them that day. Special prayers for the wounded for full recovery.

Respectfully submitted,

Thank you, Sgt. Omar Mora for your service to this Nation. It is because of Patriots such as you that I, my family, and the rest of this great Nation are able to lead the lives we do. It is the soldier that gives us freedom, not the politicians. Only two people ever died for our freedoms. One was Jesus Christ and the other was the American Soldier. The least I can do is pay homage and respect to this Hero and his family.
To the family of this American Hero: We as a Nation grieve with you in the loss of one of our Nation’s best. His adherence to “Duty to God and Country” will not be forgotten. Death is a time to rejoice in the life someone had and the lives they touched on this earth. Life is but a blink of an eye. May the Great Architect take this Hero and his family into his council, protect and heal them.

You don't have to love war, but you do have to love the Warrior!

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Omar.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
