updated 13 Sept 07 1719cdt Aranel

***** URGENT MISSION UPDATE posted 13 SEP 2007 5:00pm *****

PLEASE NOTE - THE STAGING AREA FOR SAT MORNING IS CHANGED:

The original staging area in the public park parking lot is going to be used by 'others'.

THE NEW STAGING AREA IS AS FOLLOWS:

The church is on the corner of Park Av W and Gosse Blvd. Gosse Blvd is a fairly wide street. On the west (southbound) side of the street (next to the church property) the traffic lane is quite wide, bikes are to back in at an angle starting at Park Av W and going as far north as is needed.

Secondary parking will be on the east (northbound) side of Gosse Blvd - here bikes are to park nose-to-tail as this side of the street the traffic lane is not as wide.

Depending on people's arrival times - we may need to ask some to move their bikes to allow room for 1 or 2 support vehicles - please be understanding.

SEMPER GUMBY

All times remain unchanged.

The family has invited ALL PGR RIDE and ROAD CAPTAINS in attendance at the Sat service to be inside the church for the service.

There will be no burial as Greg's wishes are to be cremated, with his ashes distributed at specific points he had determined.

However, the family has invited ALL PGR MEMBERS to escort the family home after the services and to plan on staying for 'family time' and a meal - they consider, as did Greg, that the PGR IS family. Greg's wife said 'if there are 150 motorcycles parked in the front lawn, Greg would be very, very happy' (plans are in place for a large crowd - try to plan on staying). I spoke with Deputy Chief Allan Beaber of the Princeton Police who was a 10+ year friend of Greg's and asked him if he would do the honor of leading the escort to the family home and he agreed.

Parking will be on grass - bring a kickstand coaster.

Please watch the thread for any last minute updates

I feel so empty, Our prayers go out to the entire Bowman family, and the PGR family as well. Greg will be missed so much. I want the family to know how much he was loved. He and Mike went above and beyond for my family when we lost my Brother-in Law. My wife and I consider him and Mike family all senses of the word.
Greg my brother please rest in peace, God Bless, you will be forever missed.

Greg was a very, very dear friend. He worked tirelessly on the PGR Mission. I am still sitting here in disbelief. I am numb.

I think I have stood beside him in more flag lines than I have any one person. Weather you and Greg agreed on something or not, the one thing you knew, he had the mission first!

I feel like part of my heart is missing.

I have lost one of my brothers.

The one mission we were on together that I will not forget was for Sgt Andrew Lancaster. Greg took my flag just before Mike and I went to present the mission flag to Mrs lancaster. No words were spoken, no jesters made it just was..........

After the mission for Sgt Andrew Lancaster Greg said more than once, How Beautiful it was out there and he was going to go back just for the ride in the country. And my God was it beautiful! If there is one thing to be considered, he was riding in one of the places he thought was the best.

Greg I know you will be seeing all of this and I know you will be bringing our Heros home in style. And as God as my witness.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET!!

I don't know what to say. I'm in shock. When I got the E-mails this morning, I just sat there.... in disbelief.  I kept thinking, this has to be a mistake.

My deepest condolences to the Bowman family.  My prayers are with you.

Mike, take care of yourself. If you need anything, just ask.

As I've heard so many say today... "I'm sorry I woke up today"

I'm absolutely numb from hearing this. Greg was absolutely like a brother to me. He would continually ask about my son Cameron and give parenting advice... he was indeed the ultimate family man.

There are simply no words to convey how we feel today... nor explain the magnitude of our loss.

To the Bowman family:
Please know that you have an extended family beyond your blood relatives that want to help - in any way possible.

Greg:
Ride free my brother. The good you have done here... the legacy you have left... is beyond what many men are capable of. You were special indeed. I know I said to you that I would be making a 1500/36 Iron Butt run - not to be outdone by Team Bowman... I will still do that... dedicated to you. Until we're handlebar to handlebar again...

Your friend forever,
Jeff

I am still not able to put together the words to express my deep sorrow at your loss. Greg was an outstanding man, whose compassion, humbleness and dedication to everyone just exuded from him. I, like everyone else in the PGR family, will surely miss him physically being at every mission but we know he will be looking down on us with that ever present smile.

My heartfelt condolensces go out to all the Bowman family in this most terrible time. I will always be there for anything you need.

As you have entered God's Heavenly sanctuary, Greg, know that we will keep you always in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. Farewell, My Brother.

I had a voice mail this morning, "You heard about Greg"  I knew what it meant.

Greg has been there as long as I remember and before I returned the call or got to the computer, I knew an era had ended.  The last time I saw him was when he came up to pick up his new Wing.  I walked into the dealer and saw an RC hat and knew he wasn't one of mine but seem so faimiliar.  He was beeming and had big plans for the new scoot.  Then the big guy with the big bike gingerly placed his daughter on the passenger seat as if he was doing a heart transplant and THEN, and only then,  was the bike complete.  If we could all be just a little bit more like him...

Brother Mike, Joann, Mom and Dad, kids, know that Greg's influence reaches far wider than you know.  Remember him with pride and honor.

On behalf of the Brothers and Sisters in Wisconsin, we will miss him and stand ready to serve the family in anything you need.

Personally, like so many others have said, I'm empty.

To Mike Bowman and the entire Bowman Family,
There are no words that can describe the pain and anguish that the PGR family feels today. That being said, it can't compare to what you are going through. Mike, he was your brother but he was my brother too. All PGR members know how difficult it is to deal with the passing of so many young heroes, we deal with that every day. This tragedy is compounded by the fact that Greg was our hero. Knowing the entire Bowman family has endured more than it's share of tragedy, all I can say is you have my complete support. If there is anything you need, I am there. To Greg himself, I would say it has been an honor to know you, I will never forget you and Godspeed my friend.

When I got up this morning and started checking my e-mail, this was the first one in my box. We were just together Thursday and still laughing over the christing of his bike, hearing how he and his son had just completed an iron Butt ride, and how they were 20 miles short of completing 1500 miles. one of the first things he said his son said was "When are we going to it next" I was in shock when I read the news, and now as I read the different e-mail and replays I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes, as I've lost more then a friend, I've lost a brother. Greg's heart was fully in PGR and our hero's so now while we welcome and honor them here on earth, I know Greg is in Heaven, standing a Flag Line welcoming them there. Greg Rest in Peace.    Having only known Greg through e-mail contact, I still feel as if I've lost a brother.  Words cannot describe the empty feeling that exists within me as I learn of the loss of yet another dedicated PGR member, one who served his membership tirelessly.

JoAnn, Mike and all members of Greg's immediate family....please accept my heartfelt condolences on his tragic passing.  All of West Virginia mourns with you and stands beside you during this most difficult time.

May God watch over each of you, bless and comfort you as you deal with your loss.  I hope you will take a measure of comfort in knowing that his spirit will remain forever and he continues to watch over each of you from his rightful place at the right hand of God.

From all of my brothers and sisters in West Virginia, we will stand in silent honor and respect for Greg.

O my goodness....... to the family and many friends of Greg.... an Irish blessing...

May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.
