18 Apr 2007 9:30 AM Alert

Updated  - 19 Apr 07 0738  ET - PGRLabLuvr

Fellow Patriot Guard Riders: Updates to yesterday's posting are in red.

We have been invited to attend the visitation and funeral/interment of Berkeley County Sheriff's Deputy Dawn Tillman, who died Tuesday after being fatally injured this past Sunday in a head-on collision.

Yesterday's
newspaper article recounting the accident and Deputy Tillman's career and unfailing spirit can be
read here .
Deputy Tillman's obituary can be read here and an article concerning charges in Deputy Tillman's death is here.

You are encouraged to post condolences on the PGR website. Family members often drop by and are comforted to find that so many people care.

Visitation: Thursday, April 19, from 6-9 pm at Crossroads Community Church, 505 Gahagan Rd. in Summerville (map link ). Briefing will be at 5:30pm at the church with a flag line formed by 5:45pm. Flags will be provided, but if you have a mission flag, bring it. We may be parking on gravel; bring a kickstand pad or crushed can/bottle. Today's forecast for ~ 6pm is 68 degrees and 30% chance of rain increasing to 50% as the evening progresses.

Funeral: Friday, April 20, at Noon at Crossroads Community Church. Interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery (map link ).

Staging details: Meet at the McDonald's parking lot,  501 N. Main Street in Summerville (link to map) at 10:00am.
Mission Briefing: Mission briefing will be at 10:30 a.m.

We will leave immediately after to travel two miles to the church and set up a flag line for the arrival of friends and family. It is anticipated that we will travel to the cemetery (25 miles) when the service begins at noon; however, the opportunity for a contingent of PGR or for all of us to join the procession may arise. We will adapt as the mission unfolds, as usual.

Flags will again be provided, but if you have a mission flag, bring it. Kickstand pads are again strongly recommended, especially if it rains Thursday night. Friday's forecast calls for a high of 70 degrees and 10% chance of rain.

May Officer Tillman's family and her fellow officers be comforted by God's loving embrace. Deputy Tillman, there are no words, but "Thank you" and "We'll see you again one day."

Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.

Words at a time like this seem so insignificant. All I can say is thank you, Deputy Tillman, for your service.

My heart is heavy. I think of a young Deputy, her life snuffed out so young by someone who should have never been behind the wheel of a vehicle.

I pray that God keep your family, friends, and fellow Officers under His protectiion and Grace, and comfort us all in this time of sorrow.

I cannot express how terrible I feel about the loss of another law enforcement officer in our community this year. We have suffered greatly this year in this regard. However, I know my grief is insignificant compared to that of the family and friends of this local HERO! My prayers are that Gods grace and peace will find each and every one of them and comfort them in this difficult time. Deputy Tillman, your service to this community will never be forgotten and it will be an honor to stand for you and your loved ones. The sacrifice you and your family have made is the ultimate service a people can make for one another and I am forever indebted to you all. Gods speed!
