The Maryland State Police have request that we do not fly the big American flags (3X5) on the bikes or cages. "For safety reasons"  Small flags are fine and they are also allowed on ANC.  So for this mission there will be no 3X5 flags flown. Thank you for your support and be careful out there.

Mission update to honor Spc. Ross McGinnis:

The following information is being provided to update you on the progress of this mission. Please note, this is a very fluid mission and is requiring a great deal of coordination and support. Please check this site regularly for updates and changes.

The size of the procession is being capped at the request of our state police escorts in Maryland and Virginia. The size of the procession is also being capped to address the concerns of the family. They are extremely supportive of the PGR and the safety and well being of each rider is paramount to them. As this is a Pennsylvania mission, PA vehicles will take precedence. If we reach our quota at Breezewood (see staging information above - staging area 1), there will be NO additional vehicles added to the procession throughout the ride. Should the quota not be met at Breezewood, additional vehicles will be allowed to join in Frederick, MD (staging area 2 - tba*) and this is the ONLY place where this will be allowed. Once we leave Frederick, NO additional vehicles will be allowed to join the procession. This is a requirement of our state police escort and we will adhere to it. There will be no additional stops until we reach ANC. Anyone wishing to join the procession must confirm space ahead of time. PA riders may contact Richard Getchel as previously noted below at rgetch@atlanticbb.net. The deadline to contact Richard is today 3/15/2007. Non-PA riders/participants may contact kevin rock at sjurock@hotmail.com. The deadline to contact kevin is Friday 3/16/2007. The FINAL list of vehicles will be provided to the state police (MD and VA) on Monday 3/19/2007. If you are in the procession, please note that loud pipes are discouraged at ANC. There are services continually going at ANC and we do not want to disrupt them in any way.

Because this is expected to be a very large turnout, we ask that experienced riders, those who have recently ridden in groups and are comfortable in a group riding situation, submit their request to ride in the procession.

For those riders and patriots who will not be riding in the procession, but still would like to show your respect for this fallen hero, you may go directly to Arlington (staging area 3 - tba*) and stand guard for the interment.

Again, a lot of coordination is going to be required for this mission and specific details may change at the last moment. Please check frequently for updates and on the day of the mission please follow the direction of your ride captains.

Due to the distance and expected speed of the procession large flags are discouraged. Flags are not required at ANC. (note: there is one flag at Arlington and it flies on the hill and is always at half-staff to honor our heros. the only other flags are those which cover our heros to their final resting place and those carried by the military honor guard.)

Once in the cemetery, please refrain from smoking or using cell phones. as there are several other services taking place, please show our respect for any hero who may be brought past and if you find yourself within hearing distance of taps being played at another service, please stand silently until the last note is played.

This young man (and all of our heros both fallen and serving in the military) have made us proud. Let's return the honor and stand with pride.

*tba - these staging locations/times/directions will be announced when finalized.

Final Itinerary and Staging for SPC Ross McGinnis ANC escort.

The family has requested that for our safety that we do not start the escort at the time in the morning they will be leaving Knox, Pa. To honor the family's request it has been decided that we will meet them at Breezewood, Pa. Where there will be a drivers change.

Date: Friday March 23, 2007
Time: 06:00
Pre-Ride Briefing: 06:30
Depart:  TBA, will depend on arrival of bus

Staging Location: Gateway Travel Lodge (TA)
                          16547 Lincoln Hwy
                          Breezewood, Pa. 15533

Gateway Travel Lodge has graciously allowed the PGR to stage at there location. Enter at the front and park to the right. Do not enter the Truck only drive. The restaurant there will be setting up the buffet early for PGR.

Additional information:
HELMETS ARE REQUIRED for Maryland, Virginia and ANC .
No 3X5 flags on ANC either holding or attached to the bike or cage. Pennsylvania PGR has preference on this ride, but will need total numbers of riders by Thursday 15 March. Bike or cage. The reason for this is that there is a limit due to Police escort. The Limit is 100. Once I get PA numbers then the ANC ride Captain will fill the rest of the slots with riders from Maryland and Virginia. Due to Police escort and traffic at that time of the day, they have request that we only join the escort at Breezewood, PA or the fuel stop in the Frederick, Md area
Contact me with numbers at rgetch@atlanticbb.net

Please make every effort to show our support for this grieving family as they bring their American Hero to his final rest.
