All bikes will present a uniform appearance as we ride the short distance from the staging area to the First Baptist Church in a staggered formation. Tina Priest's Death In Iraq Under Investigation Grieving Family Confused By Report Of Gunshot Wound
Gregg Watson Reporting
(CBS 42) SMITHVILLE
A Central Texas family is coping with the death of a soldier killed in Iraq. The Army said Private First Class Tina Marie Priest of Smithville died from non-combat-related injuries. There was unimaginable pain for family members who sent their daughter off to war, believing she would come back -- but knowing there was a chance she would not. Family members told CBS 42s Gregg Watson that they are having a hard time believing that Priest did not die in combat. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Priest died Wednesday of injuries not related to war. Her familys not so sure. Priests father was lost in his grief Friday night. Its not right for any parent to have to bury their child, Tim Priest said. I dont know how to feel. I just dont know how to feel. It will be a few days before Priests body will be flown back to the U.S. Her family plans to honor her memory with a heros burial in Smithville. She lived life to its fullest extent at all times, her father said. Family members said they had heard that Priest died from a gunshot wound to the chest. The Army is investigating.
