I believe that all of the S/C's in these states have been notified. I left a message for Bob in Ohio. Please work through them for information. Ralph will let us know when dates become available. In Missouri, I have checked with the Highway Patrol for an escort due to the historic value of the stone. We'll confirm that once we have dates, but the troopers were supportive of doing so. Raplh Rojas is the contact for this, I am just sharing what we have talked about and what MO will do. |

LOL, We know it must be a mid - states thing. Once they cross that Mississippi “Ocean”, everything runs together.
All joking aside,
we (PGR) are honored to be apart of this project. Dodge City has been blessed to receive a piece of the Pentagon from the 9/11 disaster. Congressman Moran’s office will be accepting and turning over the stone to the PGR to deliver to Dodge City, Kansas. This will take place on Monday, 21 Aug, between 1 pm and 3 pm. I will post the exact time once we get word from Congressman Moran’s Office.
STAGING will be at the Iwo Jima Memorial which we use for our Arlington National Cemetery Missions, we will then go to the Pentagon as a group to receive the stone.
The stone will be approx 24” x 24” and 2 – 6” thick. We will not know the exact size until we pick it up. The weight will be 75 – 125 lbs before packaging. (Weights provided by the Pentagon.) I will have a crate for the stone approx 30” x 30” x 6 – 10” depending on the thickness. The Box will have a clear Plexiglas top so everyone along the way can view the stone and still be secure.
Due to the awkward size, we will utilize our cages with a tailgate or hatchback (SUV) for the transportation with motorcycle and cage escorts. We have discussed using MC with a trailer but due to the weight and size it would be awkward to lift this in and out of trailers. We do not want or need anyone getting hurt on this mission. We need to make sure this gets to Dodge City in one piece.
The journey will start on Tues, 22 AUG 06 from Leesburg, VA. MD and Virginia PGR will escort the stone to the Flight 93 Crash site in Shanksville, PA., where it will be turned over to the PA/WV PGR. A small ceremony and blessing of the stone is planned. The afternoon run will take the stone as far as Pittsburgh and possibly to Wheeling, WV if Time permits where it will spend the first night.
The route will follow the I-70 Corridor and each state will determine the route and stops thru their state. A preliminary route has been sent to each State Captain for their approval. If the current schedule and time frame is followed the stone will be in Dodge City on Sunday, Aug 27th which will give the engineers time to properly mount the stone for the unveiling on Sept, 11th. Roger (KS SC) will have more on that once it’s finalized.
Suzan Scott “SuzieQ” Teachey, Author of the book, the 9/11 Patriot, Viewpoint of an Average American Girl, and Patriot Guard Road Captain, Will have the honor of transporting the stone from the Pentagon to the first transfer point, Flight 93 crash site in Shanksville, PA.
She is assisting in the coordination of this mission and can be reached at patriot@onqdesigninc.com
Each State Captain or assigned Road Captain will coordinate the route and stops in each state. The tentative route will bring the stone to Dodge City, Kansas on Sunday, 27 Aug. This will give the Engineers time to properly mount the stone in the memorial for the Sept, 11th unveiling. Ralph (KS SC) will have more on this once it’s finalized.

Greetings all,
PA State Captain, Don Bright, asked me to RC the Shanksville, PA to Wheeling, WV portion of this mission. Waiting for more info on ETA at Shanksville ... and then will coordinate with Ron about the transfer in Wheeling (assuming all that's OK with Boccie). As of now, I'm guessing arrival in Shanksville between 3 & 4 p.m. on Tuesday ... will post again when we have a better idea of the time and exact meeting place (crash site memorial, memorial chapel ???). Here is the URL of one of the maps to the Shanksville, PA crash site http://www.roadsideamerica.com/geo/showMap.php?attractionNo=9596
PA PGR ... we will need someone with a pickup or other vehicle in which the memorial stone can be safely placed and seen easily by bystanders. If you are willing & able, please send me a message through the system with your email address & phone number. Thanks!
I was last at the Shanksville crash site in July 2002. Looking forward to seeing what's different now and escorting this piece of history on a small portion of its journey. Please join us if you can!
Ride on. Joe |

Sgt. Rock!!! That's great. My cousin, Rocco, was known as Sgt. Rock when he was in the Marine Corps back in the '70s ... used to ride around base on a chopper.
Anyway, we have a Member offering to participate with a Toyota 4-Runner so far. I think a pickup truck is preferable for visibility, but at least it won't need to be strapped onto my luggage rack like I did that big watermelon a couple weeks ago :)
Auto-emails are not working again. Hopefully the system messages are ... Ron1ok, Boccie & SuzieQ, I hope you got the messages I sent through the system last night. Not urgent though ... yet.
take care Joe |

Good morning kids, I have the honor of heading up the portion of the transport through the great state of Indiana. I know this is pretty fluid right now because of the number of states involved, but would like to begin dialogue with the Ohio Ride Captain ASAP so we can begin to coordinate the handoff. Does anyone know if any protocal has been set up for the transfers as of yet?

I personally want to thank each and everyone one of you for your committement to this great organization. Those of you assisting the community of Dodge City, Kansas with this project - we cannot thank you enough! The human spirit is an awesome thing!!
If possible while the stone is being transported and changing hands across the country we would enjoy to have photos of the journey. Eventually we are planning to post a technology kiosk at Liberty Garden http://www.visitdodgecity.org/attractionsfolder/libertygarden/liberty.html with scrolling information about 9/11 and all of the processes involved with creating our memorial. We would very much be honored to include your photos with a caption of who is in the photo and where along the journey, with your permission.
Locally our project began not long after 9/11 and once the community was aware that a piece of the World Trade Center was granted to the city, local businesses and private individuals folked to donate time, effort, resources, and finances to construct the garden.
It is Dodge City's gratitude and pleasure that The Patriot Guard has so willingly and freely taken charge of this task to bring a piece of history to our community so that all who visit will understand the tradegy of September 11 and will never forgot.
Along the route please feel free to call me 620.225.8100 (office) or 620.255.3739 (mobile) and email ryanc@dodgecity.org if you have questions. We would be happy to hear from you as the journey begins and changes hands inroute.
Again, thank you very much!
Very best regards,
Ryan Carpenter

| I believe I've got the details worked out from my office so you should have at least on Wing from the Puzzle Palace to assist. It would be my honor to escort as my Guard MP Unit was one of the first activated to respond for security 1430 hrs on Sept 11th. Would be good to see a continuation of service for that day. |
