Marine Lance Cpl. Joshua E. Lucero 19, of Tucson, Arizona.

LCpl Lucero died as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He
was assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II
Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North
Carolina. Died on November 27, 2004.

Marine Lance Corporal Joshua Lucero was killed before the PGR was
formed in Arizona. Robert and Josie Delsi came up with a great idea to
have a memorial ride for Joshua.  The plan is to ride from Lupe’s
Mexican Restaurant at Oracle Junction to South Lawn with the friends
and family where a Memorial ceremony will be held. A room has been
reserved at Lupe’s if anyone wants to have lunch there.  Also we need
some people for a flag line at a South Lawn. Please email me as to
which location you will be standing post. Thanks

This is a two-location mission: The escort will meet the flag line at
South Lawn.

On Friday, 27 November, I along with my PGR brothers and sisters, listened as the story was told of Joshua's decision to join the military after 9/11. It was relayed that a few days later, he brought a Marine recruiter to his home so Mom and Dad could sign the papers. We heard that Joshua was very proud to wear the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. Of his pride, rightfully so, of earning the title "Marine" like other young men and women before him.

At Tun Tavern on November 10, 1775, when the Corps was formed, I am sure that a young man who COULD have been named Joshua, raised his hand and said, " I am here. Send me." During WWI, as the English and French forces retreated from Belleau Wood, I am sure there COULD have been a young Marine named Joshua who instead of retreating, raised his hand and said " I am here. Send me." as the Marines earned their nickname of "Devil Dogs." from the Germans. Again and again in places like the Banana Wars, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Khe Sahn, men who remain forever young, raised their hand and said " I am here. Send me." After 9/11 a young man by the name of LCpl Joshua Lucero DID raise his hand and said "I am here. Send me." On teh 27th, family members, friends, PGR rothers and sisters and current Marines paid recognition on the 5th anniverary of his sacrifice and and remembered a young man who moved toward the sound of the guns by saying, "I am here. Send me."

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of LCpl. Joshua E. Lucero ,Thanks for being one of our greatest heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of LCpl. Joshua E. Lucero, USMC / OIF Veteran. Your service and sacrifices will not be forgotten. Thank you for protecting the freedom of our country. You will always be remembered as a "TRUE AMERICAN HERO". Rest easy, Marine.

To those I love and to those who loved me:
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be thankful for our beautiful years.

I gave to you my love you can only guess,
How much you gave to me in happiness,
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I traveled alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a time that we must part
So, bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
All my love around you soft and clear
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and say,
"Welcome Home"

Riding in honor of my friend SGT Troy D. Jenkins, US Army, B co. 3-187th Infantry Regiment "Rakkasans", 101st Airborne Division, Killed In Action during OIF-I, 24 April 2003 Baghdad, Iraq.

Thank you is just not enough; remember that only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you; Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One chose to die for your soul, the other for your freedom!
