My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of LCpl Nicholas Hand, and my sincere appreciation to his parents for raising such a fine young man and True American Hero. He enlisted at age 17, served in both Iraq and Afghanistan to protect his nation and the cause of freedom that my family holds so dear and will never take for granted. We owe him a debt that we can never repay. He will always be remembered as a true Patriot.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
 John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873)
