506th Quartermaster Company

 WELCOME HOME

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited on the 26TH of November to “Welcome Home” the 506TH Quarter Master Company after being deployed to Iraq for the past year.  This will be a great Thanksgiving Day for the troops and families and a great way for us to relax our full tummy after eating all day and to giving thanks to our Troops.

MISSION PLAN:  PGR members wishing to participate should rally at the Aviation Museum Richmond, VA 9:45 p.m.

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Richmond&state=VA&address=5701+Huntsman+Rd&zipcode=23250-2416&cat=Virginia+Aviation+Museum&country=US&latitude=37.517942&longitude=-77.332272&geocode=ADDRESS

Ride brief will be conducted at 10:00 p.m. and KSU approximately 10:30 p.m.

Arrive Fort Lee approximately 11:15p.m.  Once we arrive at the Fort Lee gym we will form a flag line inside for the troops to march through as they enter.

Rig motorcycles with flags for escort duties if you have them.  It will be mainly interstate, make sure they can handle higher speeds than in town.  Since this is an evening mission bring reflective vests.

RIDE CAPTAIN:  Ride Captain for this mission is Daigle “Krazy Kajun” Kirkman (337-305-2319).

Co-Captain is ASC Jim “Da Bears” McGinley, 757-768-2437

Tail gunner will be named later.

WEATHER:  Forecast for Thursday is mostly cloudy and mid 40’s.  This is an evening/early morning mission so dress warm and comfortable.

RIDE PROTOCOL:

Bikes    Large (3x5) US Flags

             Smaller US Flags

             No Flags

I tell ya..... a smooth transit up from the "south side;" Pickup points went like clock work... even managed to get around that cage with the lady Texting for 20 or 30 miles @ 70mph!  At the staging, great to see riders from District 4 again....  wasn't all that fun when the rain drops starting coming out of the sky.... BUT did you all hear those soldier hoot from inside those 2 tour buses?!?!  Of course... the rest of the mission was wet, but well worth the effort for all those troops returning home from deployment.  Spc Baily from South Carolina.... It was a real treat and privilege for Trike and I to buy your 1st Breakfast Home from the sandbox/tour of duty. Thank you!

For the transit down, I was apprehensive when the sky starting to light up like day light...  we pushed on. The further south we got... the wetter and colder it got.  Rolled into the drive at Oh Dark Thirty (translation: 03:30)... hope all the other riders made it home safely as well.  As far as the cold goes... nothing a cup of hot coco can't handle.

Jim 'Da Bears' McGinley... thanks much for having us at this happy mission...  Welcoming Home the 506th Quarter Master company.
