The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to prepare an Honor Mission for Leonard Purdy, US Marine, Vietnam Veteran.

Leonard passed away on Sunday November 1, 2009.  His wife Ann has invited the PGR to stand and Honor our veteran.  Leonard was born on June 16, 1947.  He is survived by his wife Ann, two daughters- Michelle and Marie, one son-  Lenny, 7 grandchildren and one great grand child.

The details for this mission are as follows:

Visitation:  Tuesday evening (11/3/2009) from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.  The visitation will be at the Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, Georgia.

Funeral Service:  Wednesday at 2:00pm, Ivie Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial:  Immediately following the service at Webbs Creek Baptist Church.

Ivie Funeral Home
1053 S Elm St.
Commerce, Georgia  30529

Webbs Creek Baptist Church
647 Webbs Creek Road
Commerece, Georgia  30529

DETAILS:  We will stage at the funeral home at 1:00pm.  We will form a flag line.  The family has requested that we escort our veteran and his family to Webbs Creek Church.  At this late time, if you can attend, please plan on bringing a flag to stand in the flag line...  A flag wagon may be available, but being prepared is important.

I hope to be able to post a RCIC later this evening.  The Ivie Funeral Home funeral director is Gary Thompson.

At this time all questions and concerns should be directed to Doug Glidden (slow bull).

Karon and I would like to offer our most sincere condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Leonard Purdy USMC.

Please rest assured that Leonard has now reported to his new duty station and, as the last verse of the Marine Corps Hymn says, is now "Guarding The Streets of Heaven".

“If the Army and the Navy ever look on Heaven’s scenes,
they will find the streets are guarded by United States
Marines”.

Rest well my brother Marine.

I will be present to honor you my brother!

Thank you for your service Mr Purdy. May you rest in peace.

“Some people’s lives can truly make a difference however long or short their lives on earth. They give the gifts of kindness and of caring. They sow the seeds of friendship and self-worth.
