Thank you, CWO Michael P. Montgomery for your service to this Nation. Individuals like you put your life on the line and sacrifice your lives for our freedoms. And it breaks my heart. I pray each day that the Lord our God will provide each and every one of our soldiers an Angel to watch over and protect them. It is the soldier that gives us freedom, not the politicians. Only two people ever died for our freedoms. One was Jesus Christ and the other was the American Soldier. The least I can do is pay homage and respect to this Hero and his family.
A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America “for an amount of up to and including my life.”
That is Honor.
To the family of this American Hero: We as a nation grieve with you in your loss. His adherence to “Duty to God and Country” will not be forgotten. Death is a time to rejoice in the life someone had and the lives they touched on this earth. Life is but a blink of an eye. May the Great Architect take this Hero and his family into his council, protect and heal them.

You don't have to love war, but you do have to love the Warrior!

The sound of 200 people holding flags -- is deafening.

Each and every breath of fresh air that we take for granted is made possible because of the sacrifices of heroes like US Army CWO Michael Montgomery. Our most sincere condolences are sent from our Douglasville Georgia home to the family and friends of this American Hero. It is because of his willingness to go above and beyond normal duties to serve in harms way that allow us to live free. He served as a defender of our freedom, may he now rest in peace with God, his mission is complete.

We pray that the Lord above lay his healing hands on the family and friends of this Hero and comfort them during this emotional time. Give them the strength to carry on while remembering their fallen Hero evermore.

NSDQ. It means Night Stalkers Don't Quit. Being military myself and the Savannah area being my current home, I have the deepest respect for the Warriors of the 160th SOAR.

CWO Montgomery is one of those Warriors. They garner the respect of Special Forces, SEALs and all who work with them in their SpecOps world. The people I, as a run of the mill career military member, take my hat off to take THEIR hats off to CWO Montgomery and his fellow Night Stalkers.

Seven deployments. Seven. A wife who has missed him dearly. A son who faces the challenges daily of having a deployed Daddy. A mother who often is not quite sure where her son is. This is a family who had already given much before 26 October 2009. We already owed them a huge debt. On Monday, that debt went from merely huge to absolutely insurmountable. What more can a Warrior and his family give? And how do we say "thank you"?

We will never pay the debt we owe. We can't even make minimum payments. We can offer words, we can lift our voices in prayer, we can offer a shoulder to lean on, we can stand in humble respect and try to comfort a heartbroken family on their darkest days, we can remember...we must remember.

Today, I offer my most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fellow Nigh Stalkers of CWO Michael Patrick Montgomery. May God comfort, guide and strengthen you as you make your way through these most difficult days.

NSDQ... CWO Montgomery and four other Night Stalkers will not answer roll call. Their Night Stalker Brethren will close ranks and continue the mission and they will remember. Let's join them in remembering and pray for them as they fight on.

Assistant State Captain (SE)

When you come to the edge of
All the light you know
And are about to step off
Into the darkness of the unknown
Faith is knowing one of two things
will happen:
There will be something solid
to stand on
Or you will be taught how to fly.
