Mission Update (please note change in time for Airport Arrival):
 
Wednesday, August 12 -
Arrival at 165th Airlift Wing flightline
Patriot Guard Riders, please gather at the Days Inn, Airport.
Address: 2500 Dean Forest Rd Savannah GA 31408
Time: 1:00pm
Briefing: 1:15pm, Kickstands Up no later than 1:30pm
We will enter the base as a group.  All normal requirements for entry onto a military installation are waived with the exception of helmet, eyewear and long pants. 
LEO escorted procession will depart the 165AW and travel to Richmond Hill Funeral Home via Highways 17 and 144.  Estimated departure time from the airfield is 3:30 pm
 
 
Friday, August 14 -
Visitation
Richmond Hill United Methodist Church
9050 Ford Ave Richmond Hill, GA 31324 (Hwy 144, just east of I-95)
Flagline to be established not later than 3:30 pm
Visitation for family only 4-5pm, Public 5-8pm
It is understandable if you can't arrive by 3:30 pm...please don't let that stop you from coming.
Just please be respectful of family and friends who are gathered there and arrive quietly and discretely.
 
 
Saturday, August 15 -
Funeral Services
Patriot Guard Riders, please assemble at Kroger in Richmond Hill

Time: 9:00am
Briefing: 9:30am
Kickstands Up no later than 10:00am
 
Further details regarding Saturday's services will be posted as soon as they are available. There are details still being worked out at this time.

Airport arrival will be Wednesday, August 12.  Time is uncertain, but I anticipate a "0930-ish" arrival.
Staging will be 0900 at the Days Inn at 2500 Dean Forest Rd Savannah 31408.
Just look for the pond out front. Please be flexible...the arrival could be later than 0930. We will escort to the funeral home in Richmond Hill.
 
Visitation will be Friday evening
 
Services are planned for Saturday, 15 August.
 
All remaining times and locations will be updated as soon as possible.  I just wanted to get the airport arrival info out.

DoD Identifies Marine Casualty

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
            Capt. Matthew C. Freeman, 29, of Richmond Hill, Ga., died Aug. 7 while supporting combat operations in Kapisa province, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan.

Each and every breath of fresh air that we take for granted is made possible because of the sacrifices of heroes like USMC Captain Matthew Freeman. Our most sincere condolences are sent from our Douglasville Georgia home to the family and friends of this American Hero. It is because of his willingness serve in harms way that allow us to live free. He served as a defender of our freedom, may he now rest in peace with God, his mission is complete.

 

We pray that the Lord above lay his healing hands on the family of this Hero and comfort them during this emotional time. Give them the strength to carry on while remembering their fallen Hero evermore.

I've been a member of PG for some time now, but this is my first post. Matt was a good friend from high school and, in my opinion, the epitome of honor and selflessness. His passing is a great loss and I offer my condolences to his family. Matt will certainly be missed.
