I stand for you, as you stood for me,
Because as we all know, Freedom isn’t free.
A long time ago, I was a young soldier too.
Back then there was no “Welcome Home”,
And certainly no “Thank You”.
I’m here to make sure that history doesn’t repeat
For it is only by the Grace of God that I stand here today, on my own two feet.
You see, I have scars, even a blown-out knee, Yet I stand with this flag,
Because your service, your sacrifice,
Means that much to me.
I pray that you'll come home, alive and whole,
I’ll pray if you come home flag-draped,
In a cargo hold.
I thank you young soldier, for all that you do.
You stood for me. Today, I stand for you.
