| I humbly wish to express my regret and sympathy to all the beloved family and friends of U.S. Army 2LT Derwin I. Williams. There are no words of thanks that are adequate to express what is due LT Williams for his years of service as a guardian to our nation; but we must never forget this man who put all of his tomorrows on the line in the performance of his duties. May Our Father in Heaven ever abide in the hearts of those who have been most deeply touched by this terrible loss; and may they find consolation and peace. Let all know that a great many people deeply regret the loss of this hero; and will ever remember the price of freedom and security. |

Our debt to the Heroic men and Valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid . They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices (President Harry S. Truman)
During these days of many trials and tribulations that our land of the free are facing, let us remember to hold our heads up high in remembrance for those who gave their life for our freedom and those that are still in harms way for this cause. Pray for the brokenhearted and proclaim victory for those who are held captive. Lord, You are the light of the world and we declare You to be Lord over every nation. We know your light shines in darkness and the darkness does not always comprehend, but we also know You light will always prevail. Amen. Chaplin, Lorraine Richmond.

The Long Road Home
In loving hands is where I’m placed
My journey home begun
Though other men continue here
My duty now is done
Wrapped inside my swaddling clothes
With tenderness and care
Tucked inside my velvet bed
Soon I will be there
The plane my body rides upon
To bring me to home land
Is lifted gently to the skies
For now I’m in Gods hands
People stand beside the road
As the car I am in glides by
Standing tall with a salute
And tissues to their eyes
My Brother rides this road with me
One who knows my sacrifice
Will take me home to my family
Who also paid the price
When finally I am laid to rest
‘Neath the tree in a bed of loam
I’m grateful for the company
On the long road home

2LT. Derwin. I. Williams Thank you for your willingness to defend the United States of America and her freedoms and interests. Your untimely death brings much sorrow and sadness to the hearts and lives of your family, friends, military brothers and sisters, each and every member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and all who truly appreciate their freedom. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends. May your hearts be comforted and his soul be at peace.
It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us - that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God shall have a new birth freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth."
