Mission Date; July 2-3, 2009
Ride Captains:
Dewey "Diehard" Dyer; (214) 316-8730 (c); dgd4758@sbcglobal.net
Mike "Gunner" Lambert; (817) 368-9076 (c); mikelambert2@aol.com
Private First Class Cross died while in a combat zone in Afghanistan due to a vehicle roll over. He was 20 years old, from Sagniaw, TX.
Part 1 – Airport Arrival: Thursday, July 2, 2009 - 12:19 PM; NAS JRB - Carswell, Fort Worth, TX
Staging - 11:00 AM; Briefing - 11:30 AM
NAS JRB Main Gate
NAS Fort Bldg 1275
NAS JRB, TX 76127
Map - http://tinyurl.com/l3vn2
Riders will stage in the parking lot adjacent to the main gate and receive instructions regarding base access, staging for the plane, etc. The base is a secure federal area and firearms are not allowed.
Part 2 – Escort and Visitation: Thursday, July 2, 2009 - Following the Arrival; Greenwood Funeral Home
Greenwood Funeral Home 3100 White Settlement Road Fort Worth, TX 76107
Map - http://tinyurl.com/m9y9s9
Following the receiving of PFC Cross at the airplane we will line up for the procession to Greenwood Funeral Home. The Fort Worth Police Department will provide traffic control. Upon arrival we will form a line at the funeral coach and render honors as PFC Cross is moved inside.
Please note: The family will not make a decision on whether or not there will be a visitation that evening until this time. Riders please plan to stay at the funeral home for a few minutes while we determine if that decision will be made right away. If it will be, we will give you their decision right there. If there will be a delay we will let you know and you can look for an e-mail as soon as the decision is made. If a visitation is to be held, we have offered to the family to have a flag line for it. We will have to be flexible as the family makes this difficult decision.
Part 3 – Funeral Service & Interment: Friday, July 3, 2009 - 10:00 AM; Christ Chapel Bible Church & Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth, TX
Staging - 8:45 AM; Briefing - 9:00 AM; Flags in place by 9:15 AM
Christ Chapel Bible Church 3740 Birchman Ave. Fort Worth, TX 76107
Map - http://tinyurl.com/n2towx
We will stand a flag line as family members and guests arrive for the funeral service. When the service has started we will break down the flag line and prepare to ride in the procession back to the funeral home. PFC Cross will be buried in the Memorial Park at Greenwood. The Fort Worth Police Department will provide traffic control for the procession. We will stand a flag line during the grave side service.
Weather: For both Thursday and Friday the forecast is for clear or mostly clear skies and a high of 100 degrees.
With warmer weather already here, please remember to properly hydrate (including the night before) before any outdoor activity and to dress appropriately. Do not hesitate to take a break at any time if you feel you need to get in the shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any time. Also, please don’t forget your sun screen.
It is very unlikely that we will have a water truck at the airport. Please plan accordingly. One vehicle will be unavailable and one will be at the mission in Joshua. Pack you saddlebags with cold water and electrolyte enhanced drinks. Remember towels or bandannas to soak and put around your neck. Please take all necessary precautions.
The flag/water truck will be present at all other parts of the mission.
Due to having 2 missions overlapping we need as many riders as possible to turn out so that proper respect is shown at both missions. Please make every effort to attend if you can. Come in cages if you like. Any participation is always welcome and met with open arms by all.
Iron Horses if you can; cages are always welcome and appreciated.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall, silent, and with honor and respect for this American patriot.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dewey "Diehard" Dyer Mike "Gunner" Lambert North Texas Ride Captains

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of PFC. Peter K. Cross. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. Know
your son was and is a Hero to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with
you always. He will never be forgotten.
Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Peter.
Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.
Morning
Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

Our debt to the Heroic men and Valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid . They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices (President Harry S. Truman)
During these days of many trials and tribulations that our land of the free are facing, let us remember to hold our heads up high in remembrance for those who gave their life for our freedom and those that are still in harms way for this cause. Pray for the brokenhearted and proclaim victory for those who are held captive. Lord, You are the light of the world and we declare You to be Lord over every nation.
