Almost 18 months ago, Cpl. Kammerdiener hung by a thread, with his family at his bedside.  Gradually he began to improve, multiple surgeries followed and now rehab has started.  Cpl. Kammerdiener is now learning to walk again with assistance. At the request of the family, a service is being planned for the presentation of the Purple Heart. Cpl. Kammerdiener is unable to speak and has limited movement on the right side due to his injuries, but shows great determination.

Thank you Cpl. Kammerdiener for your service to our country. Words will never express the gratitude of this grateful nation for the sacrifices you have endured nor those endured by your family.

Part one of this mission took place today in the rain with 14 bikes from both the PGR and Legion Riders. Despite the rain the day was a success. There were many smiles on the faces in the crowd and the Kammerdiener family. We thank them for allowing us to be a part of this day. I know that part two of this mission on Sunday the 19th will be an even bigger success.

Part two of this mission took place today with forty to fifty bikes. We would like to thank the Kammerdiener family for inviting us to take part in this welcome home/purple heart ceremony. Thanks to the American Legion riders, members of the V.V.A., Rolling thunder and American Legion Post 488 in Brady's Bend. Thanks to Tracy Jack for all the work she did putting this day together. It was a special day for Corporal Kevin Kammerdiener and his family and an honor for all of us to be there. Mission complete.

I would like to thank Bill H. for the fine job of coordinating a large group of sometimes cantankerous old geezers. The ceremony was moving and I wish the Kammerdiener family all the best. Riding in memory of Steve Kmetz KIA 1944; Kenny Kline KIA 1968; Kenny Rubbo KIA 1968. You are not forgotten.
