Many of our citizens will never know the sacrifices made by those who defend our freedoms, or the sacrifices made by their families and loved ones…as a veteran, I know. I would like to say we feel your sorrow to the zapasnik family. Zap was one of my husbands soldiers and was very close to our family. He was an outstanding soldier and a wonderful friend. One good thing about the army is that we meet these young men as young men and we dont know thier past or where they came from so its a fresh start and a new impression for them to leave on someone and the impression that Zap left on our family will last a lifetime. He was funny and respectful and was always there when someone needed him. He always went out of his way to help anyone even offering to babysit our three kids so that me and my husband could have a date night before they deployed this year. He took his time to teach my son how to count money and everytime he seen him, Zap would give him a handful of change and tell him that he could keep it if he could count it. He would always come to my house and have just the perfect manners whether he was just here for dinner or for some help figuring out how to how LES pay system worked.Zap was the soldier that most NCOs would love to have he was determined and always ready to learn something new. My husband treated him as a little brother rather than his soldier and i hope that Zap new how much he was loved. If i could um it all up in one phrase it would be that "the good die young". Zap was a hero and will never be forgotten. We will hold the Zapasnik family in our hearts and prayers forever and may peace engulf their lives.
