 Served with the 1st Div. the "BIG RED ONE", '61/62. Police Officer for six years, Peoria Illinois Fire Fighter for 25 years. Arson investigator for 10 years for Peoria FD. Retired on disability in 1999.
Moved to Indiana in 2006. Live in the country away from people. Just the wife, 5 dogs, a cat, a bird and a goat.
Joined the PGR in April of 2007 and crashed my Harley with one of our infamous ILLEGAL Aliens on the way to my first mission. But I did complete the mission.

I just learned that this GREAT AMERICAN HERO left us on 18July2007 in my home town of Peoria, Il. If you want to know what a soldiers General is like, just type in his name on your search engine and read what you have never read about him in the media. He was another General George Patton.
A true AMERICAN HERO. Several of the names in his articles are friends of mine.
GOD SPEED, MY HERO GENERAL WAYNE DOWNING. GOD SPEED. It was an honor to know you.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Soldiers Medal, the Bronze Star with V Device for Valor and five Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Air Medal with V Device and 35 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Army Commendation Medal with V Device and three Oak Leaf Clusters. General Downing earned the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Military Free Fall Jumpmaster Badge, the Master Parachute Badge, the Ranger Tab and the Pathfinder Badge.
A TRUE AMERICAN HERO. They are getting fewer and fewer.
