 One of my sons was a paratrooper until his discharge from the army in Aug 2005 and he recently changed his status from inactive reservist to active again. He really missed the honor and respect. And he missed having a way to help protect his family and country should it become necessary. He is married with my only granddaughter. I have 3 other kids - only 1 girl...who has given me 2 grandsons. I started Laptops for the Wounded in autumn of 2005 & I've placed 4 notebooks at Walter Reed; the next 2 went to Balboa Naval Medical Facility. I finally got approval from Brooke Army Med Ctr at Ft. Sam Houston so now need a computer to send them!!! My contact at Walter Reed nearly cried on the phone when I told her I was sending her laptops; at onset they only had 1 "public" computer for the wounded to use & we were able to quadruple that. This has become my mission that has become an overwhelming part of my life. I quilt to wind down, but been sending out letters with business cards, etc. & trying to get projects off the ground in the last weeks , doing the Laptops project instead of much quilting...need to get a good balance going. I'm always open to ways of fundraising and anybody who can arrange a rally or poker run and keep us in mind for at least part of the proceeds....it's not just for locals; it's for all of our wounded, with prayers for their recovery and to help put peace in their family's hearts.
