I am the mother of a fallen british soldier. He was killed on the 6 September 2006 in Afghanistan. I found he was being honoured by yourselves and it made me very proud. His love for life was infectious and I miss that cheeky smile and the water being thrown on me when I am sunbathing or just making me smile. I last held and kissed him on the 2 August 2006 and did not want to let him go, he told me he loved me and that he would see me soon. I love and miss him so very much and it hurts.
I know how the other mothers and families must feel. I follow the news and feel for every mother or wife or child who has lost their loved ones. The war is harsh, but it takes a lot of guts to fight.
My son Luke, once said, "Mom if I dont do it, who will and who will keep the terror off your doorstep". I was proud, frightened all at the same time but understood why he was doing it. These words my son used, I know a lot of soldiers have considered and it is to our fallen heroes and those still out there that we are safe in our beds at night. We must honoured and never forget our fallen heroes ever. They have paid the ultimate price for us. Luke was and is a hero like every other soldier that has lost his life. God calls his angels home when he needs them and they have been called home.
Remember moms out there, as we sit and wonder why, they are smiling down on us and hoping that we can get on with our lives. They are always present, just listen and be at peace. They are safe now and having a great party in heaven. I say until we all meet again, thank you my son, and you other men for paying the utlimate price so I, my family and the rest of the world can live in peace.
To the soldiers still out there, wear your armour, helmets and be careful and come home safe and alive to your families. I thank you boys for conitnuing the fight on our behalf and your job is not in vain.
Thank you boys.
