Dear Friends,
As some of you may have heard, there will be a significant change in the schedule in this year's Republican Party of Minnesota Convention.
Because Governor Pawlenty will be paying his respects at the funeral of Marine Lance Corporal Robert Posivio III on Saturday morning, endorsement for the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor have been moved to FRIDAY AFTERNOON instead of Saturday morning.
Along with all Minnesotans, we mourn the loss of Marine Lance Corporal Posivio, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family in their time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
Ron Carey
Chairman of the Republican Party of Minnesota

I talked to my Aunt that lives in Welcome last night. She says that the whole town (all 700 and some of them) has been asked to wear a red t-shirt and stand along the procession route with flags. The whole town will be there to honor this man for the altimate sacrific that he made. She also says the media has already set up camp in town, and that the protesters have already been on the road outside the farm where the family lives.
My heart is with the family at this time.
Again if anyone is traveling from the around the North Branch area we plan on leaving there around 2:30 - 2:45 to meet up with the group at SPHD, please e-mail me at thartwig2001@yahoo.com and we can ride together.

I agree with Nate. The UGs may have been the initial reason the PGR was formed, but it's gone way beyond just them. Besides, as I've heard at mission briefings, the UGs don't exist to us. We're there to honor the fallen soldier and give our respect and support to the family. That's what it's all about, and if the UGs drop off the face of the planet(wouldn't that be nice?)I'll still be there. See you all tomorrow.

I agree with other post that the Missions have gone way past the protest of an insignificant. We will press on to honor the fallen.
Tonight myself and another PGR member will be leaving Rosemount for Fairmont. We would love to ride with the group tomorrow morning, however we hope hope to get some good rest and be fresh tomorrow.
Since this is my first Mission, riding with the group would be great. All I can say is next time.
If there are any that would like to ride down tonight, please join us. We should be leaving around 7pm. We are staying at the the Super 8 in Fairmont. |

| Just signed up yesterday- been reading about this for awhile. I will be there on Saturday with my whole family. As a Gulf War Vet and the father of a Marine recruit, the whole idea of protesting at a funeral sickens my wife and I. Our hearts go out to the Posivio family. |

I have been on a few missions and for some reason, this one seems to be getting very big. Maybe its a weekend, or maybe we are all just ready to do what should have been done for many years. I am proud to be part of the PGR and I wish I had the time and $ to make every ride. Bless the family and all of you I will stand with this weekend to give long overdue honor. I look forward to this mission and hope everyone has a safe trip. I lost a good friend at Sturgis last year (39 years old) and I know he would be right here with me doing what is right. Thank you PGR for letting me be a part of all of this. |

If y'all have time and have a red t-shirt or are able to buy one, let's go with the red shirt as well... what do you think?
I am not intending to start any new flames on the dress code discussions but this would be one more way we can show our respect. And it's only a red shirt.

| Not since leaving the service so long ago, have I felt the pride and the feeling of belonging, of being exactly where I should be, as I do when on these missions. Should the pukes stop showing, I will continue. Can't make every mission, but have made enough to know it's where I need to be, if only to be reminded, that freedom isn't free. |

Greetings Fellow PGR Brothers and Sisters,
This is where the rubber hits the road. We all signed up to become PGR members. We all had different reasons for becoming members. Tomorrow morning Minnesota PGR has their first mission. It's time to step up to the plate and do the right thing. I understand that it's not possible for everyone to be able to make it to this mission. Some of you have to work, some of you have personal and family obligations and that's okay. The rest of you, now is the time to act. Now is the time to show your support.
I never met any of the other families of the fallen hero's of the missions I've ridden on. However, Kevin the Ride Captain for Marshall MN and myself had the honor of representing MN PGR and contacting the family of LCpl. Robert G. Posivio III and I can honestly say that they are 2 of the finest people I've ever met. Bob called me the other night worried because we had changed our staging area and had a port-a-potty being delivered to the wrong place. How he knew this I do not know. Why he cared in his time of grief is beyond me. But he took time to call me at 9:30pm to ask if I wanted him to have them moved to our new staging area and if he could do anything for me and the PGR. This is the kind of people we are dealing with
Folks, tomorrow we have to show this family how much the state of Minnesota HONOR's the sacrifice their son Robert III made in giving his life for our country and we need to show our RESPECT to his family and his community tomorrow. Please, I beg of you, if you aren't willing to be there solely to HONOR and RESPECT alone, then don't show up. We are not there to Protest or Counter Protest. But we, the PGR of Minnesota and the surrounding states need to roll on this mission and show this family how much we as Americans value the sacrifice LCpl. Robert G. Posivio III made for our country.
See you tomorrow at the pre-staging in Fairmont, MN at 7:30-7:45am at the Fairgrounds off I-90 Exit 99 and County Road 39.

Ride Captain John Redfield and PGR Brothers and Sisters:
I am inspired by George and his note. I was at Andrew Kemple's funeral eariler this year. I know it means the world to a family to have someone other than the UGs at the service.
I will be arriving at the Eden Prairie location tomorrow morning. My plan is to be there at 3:45AM.. I am coming from Monticello.
I will be driving a car, but would like to tag on a bike, if someone doesn't mind a passenger. I do not have a helmet. I have ridden and driven bikes before, but it has been awhile. If I can't hop a ride, I can help bring supplies down in my car. I have a White Mitsubishi Galant 4 door.
See you in the morning! Drive Safely!

God bless Lance Cpl. Robert Posivio III and my sincere condolences to his family and friends. I will be attending to pay my respects and honor the ultimate sacrifice he has made for all of us.
I will be heading down to the Fairmont Holiday Inn tonight (just so I don’t have to wake up at 3:00AM to start the ride).
Is there any way I can meet up with you folks this evening for the ride down?

Let's clear up some misconceptions, you don't have to have a motorcycle to attend, 4 wheels works too. Just get to Fairmont for the Pre-Staging meeting. A 3x5 flag can be purchased at Walmart, Kmart, Walgreens, Home Depot, Menards, just to name a few stores. Get the ones the the poles break down into 3 pieces and they can be easily carried on your bike. It's the same flag I fly in front of my house. $10-$20 depending on which store you buy it at. If you can't afford a flag, that's okay, come anyway, you can stand next to me, I might get tired and you can spell me and hold my flag. I might even have an extra flag you can borrow, but don't bet on it, bring your own if at all possible.

Wal Mart and Kmart both have the clip on flags as well, that you see on car windows, and will work well clipped to the top of your windshield. Less than three bucks, and easily installed and removed for the slow processsions.
