***** URGENT MISSION UPDATE  posted 13 SEP 2007  5:00pm  *****

PLEASE NOTE - THE STAGING AREA FOR SAT MORNING IS CHANGED:

The original staging area in the public park parking lot is going to be used by 'others'.

THE NEW STAGING AREA IS AS FOLLOWS:

The church is on the corner of Park Av W and Gosse Blvd.  Gosse Blvd is a fairly wide street.  On the west (southbound) side of the street (next to the church property) the traffic lane is quite wide, bikes are to back in at an angle starting at Park Av W and going as far north as is needed.

Secondary parking will be on the east (northbound) side of Gosse Blvd - here bikes are to park nose-to-tail as this side of the street the traffic lane is not as wide.

Depending on people's arrival times - we may need to ask some to move their bikes to allow room for 1 or 2 support vehicles - please be understanding.

SEMPER GUMBY

All times remain unchanged.

I just got the mission update. I am not going to be able to attend, due to commitments that I cannot get out of. This is killing me.

PGR...... Please stand tall, with honor, and respect.

Greg, even though I didn't know you well, you were my friend. I remember making fun of your Goldwing, and asking if you needed a CDL to ride it. I remember your Christian morals and love of your fellow man. I remember all the help you gave to others.

I will always remember

Ride with God my friend.

Last minute EDIT...I am making plans to get out of my commitment, and turn that over to my wife. With the grace of God, I will do my best to be there, and stand for my friend.

Our deepest sympathy to the entire Bowman family. We rode the Jerry Tharpe escort and came home more than impressed with the Bowmans...and knowing that they were true examples of what makes our country so great. Reading the pages and pages of tributes to him, only confirms that. It is clear he and his family touched many lives...and that alone has to be a comfort. It is looking like we won't be able to be there this weekend...Mike is working in Nebraska...but if not, we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sure Greg was welcomed at Heaven's gate, with THE most impressive flag line ever!!!!!!!!!!!

Too many tears and too many missions to mention. Too many miles, too much rain, and not nearly enough time. I have rode next to and stood in line with the finest men and women this nation has to offer. Brother Greg Bowman was no exception to this. I am proud to call him my brother and that I will always miss him.

13 Sep 2007 11:03 PM Alert

There will be a group of people gathering this weekend for one purpose.  They will be as diverse as they always are.  Big ol' bears, quiet simple people, veterans and those who never served, Moms and Dads, brothers and sisters, daughters and sons, different races and beliefs and backgrounds.

We are the reason our heroes put their lives on the line.

We are Americans.

We are America.

Six years ago this week, people who have different values and beliefs attacked us.  We came together, stood strong, stood fast; shoulder to shoulder, we held each other up.  We did what we had to do, as Americans.

Time to do it again.

"If anybody is wondering: Where are the young idealists? Where are the people willing to devote themselves to causes larger than themselves? They are in uniform in Iraq, straddling the divide between insanity and order."

I never met Greg Bowman, but after seeing all those photos and reading all those stories from his friends, I know that I wish I HAD known him! What a remarkable man.

Greg, thank you for your service in the Army and in the PGR. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE!

The man obviously enjoyed life. That picture of him with his 'Wing in front of the Grand Teton mountains is beautiful. He and I shared some of the same experiences and appreciated both the people and the natural beauty of this great land.

To his family and his many, many friends, please accept my condolences on his untimely passing.

I will be part of a PGR Mission honoring a fallen soldier here in San Antonio, Texas on Friday. As part of our riders meeting, I will make sure that we take a moment to honor Greg and all of his dedicated work with the PGR.

Peace to you and yours, Brother Greg.

Those attending this mission out of the Peoria area:

I would like to organize a convoy, so to speak, for the Saturday trip to Princeton. I would like to stage in the parking lot of the East Peoria Wal-Mart at 0615, shooting for a departure time of 0645, as we have a 60 mile trip on state roads.

If you would like to be a part of this group, please either email (colby@colbyhuff.com) prior to 2200 Friday or call (309-397-7918) at any time prior to the Saturday morning departure from East Peoria so that I have an idea of how many folks to wait for.

I'm a cager, driving a dark blue (old!) Toyota pickup truck with a bent up bed.
