I am very honored to be in a Country that has men and women like Petty Officer Tharp and the PGRs.  I was also one of the people that stood alongside the road in Milan at the Erickson car dealership with several PROUD Veterans and Americans.
The young Army Iraq War couple who didn't even know Jerry but came to pay their respects showed all of us how truly connected we are to each other.
My father was a Marine who served in Korea and I  have several family members who feel strong enough for our great Land to want to protect IT and choose to serve in our military.
May God continue to bless all of you.

'No Greater Love is this that a man is willing to lay down his life for another.' Only two men were willing to sacrifice their lives for us-Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. Neither of which can ever fully be repaid.

Thank you for your Service and my Freedoms. Your sacrifices will never go unnoticed. I am grateful to live in a country made up of volunteers like you. Your choice to protect our Nation and put your self on the line can never be repaid.

Okay, I made a mistake in an earlier thread. Anyone in the the Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo area we are meeting at the Cedar Rapids Wal-Mart West at 0930am. This is the one between Westdale Mall and Highway 30.

For any questions or directions you can e-mail me.

Sorry for the confusion.

Greg:
I have made the commitment to make this a two mission day as well...
I would be honored to attend the service for Corporal English.
I dont know how to get there but as always I'll get there.
Are there any other McHenry area PGR's that are interested in going?
I would like to get a central departure location and some times...
Jon D and the crew? How about you guys from Naperville...Little Andy? Tom Cat?
Bogie is working on getting his schedule cleared as well.
Let me know.

I called the funeral home, and there is a visitation for Corporal English from 6 to 8 pm Friday 7.21. They suggested staying overnight in McComb IL. Better lodging, I guess.

Things look good, and I am expecting to make both missions.

I really wish I could have made the full ride to Aledo with Petty Officer Tharp. Alas, I needed to get home as I still need to pay the bills. At any rate, it was still an honor and pleasure to be able to do what I could. I met a lot of tremendous people at the VFW before the escort mission started. It is also my honor and pleasure to be able to associate with this caliber of people.

I am going to leave tomorrow after work to get down to Bushnell to camp. I figure I will be leaving the Carol Stream/Glendale Heights area around 5 or 6PM. I am going to camp at the Timberview Lakes Campground right outside of Bushnell. I guess $20 a night for tent camping ain't too bad. I spoke with them today and told them I would be pulling in around 10'ish. He just said to find a sight and pay him in the AM.

Here is their info if anybody is interested:

Timberview Lakes Campground
23200 N. 2000th Rd.
Bushnell, IL 61422

entlc1@sbcglobal.net

I figure this way it'll be a piece of cake to do both the Corporal English mission and PO1 Tharp's mission. Anybody want to head out that way with me, let me know.
email either knasiake@spray.com or airguy1988@sbcglobal.net.

Respectfully,

My sympathy to the family of Builder First Class Tharp. I am honored to be a part of a group that lives up to the motto of the Construction Batallion that Petty Officer Tharp was part of.

Rally point for PO1 Tharp and Corporal English is now Dixon. It has been decided that Saturday will be a 2 mission day. I along with my brother Mike, my son Mike, Big Joe, Bogie and others will now be meeting at the BP truckstop in Dixon. This is located at the Dixon/Route 26 eixt on I-88. WARNING - This is a toll exit which requires exact change. No attendant on duty, ever. Plan to be there and ready to roll by 6:30 AM. For those who confirm but have not arrived by 6:30 we will wait a few minutes. It's 116 miles and about 2 hours of ride time to Bushnell, assuming posted speeds are diligentlyy observed. The rest area on I-74 south of Quad Cities is a planned stop if other PGR folks want to join the ride. We should be there around 7:45 or so.

Gary, Julie and others from the LaSalle and Princeton area - Sorry for the sudden change. You are welcome to ride with me to Dixon or make your own plans for just the Tharp mission. Feel free to email me.

Part of the Saturday morning change:

Anyone interested that is coming from the McHenry County and surrounding area:

We will meet at the Marathon Station at IL-23 and IL-176 in Marengo, at 5:15 (yes, that's o'dark 15 in the morning) ready to leave not later than 5:20. Mapquest says 1 hr, 15 mins to Dixon - 70 miles - should be able to shave 10 minutes off for sure and make it there in time to fuel (even though only 70 miles from Marengo, you'll need to fuel to be able to make Bushnell), relieve and be ready to roll at 6:30.

The route from the Marengo meet to the Dixon meet:

IL-23 S to US-20 W
RIGHT onto US-20 W to I-39 S
EXIT and MERGE onto I-39 S to I-88 W
EXIT and MERGE onto I-88 W to IL-26
EXIT at Dixon (IL-26) for BP meeting point.

And I'm sure the Dixon ramp tolls will acccept I-Pass as well as exact coins.

If you're planning on meeting in Marengo - please give a heads up so we know to look for you.

Otherwise, you're welcome to join in along route.

See y'all Saturday.

Bogie, count me in on the 0 dark 30 (sorry 15) departure from Marengo. Sorry to hear about all the issues with your bike. To endure all of that, and without hesitation, vow to do it again, shows clearly the type of people that make up the PGR, and why I'm proud to be a member of the PGR. Your dedication is an inspiration to me, and I'm sure many others. Thank you. See you Saturday!

Wanted to re-iterate something going on in Mercer County for all PGR'ers. I noticed a flier while doing duty at the Tharp residence last night that there are campers to assist Patriot Guard Riders who are hungry and/or tired. An organization called the Mercer County Soldiers is providing food vouchers, water and other helpful amenities. Both are avalaible and stocked 24/7: one at the Mercer County Fairground and the other North of the Tharp home at to the right after the "T". A large round of applause for their help and assistance. If I am duplicating another post my apologies.

Hey Big Lou and Cal - Nice photo in the NewsTribune. (While we were waiting for the arrival of the hearse from Chicago.) My wife said I need to start cutting the sleeves off of my shirts to look tougher "like you guys". Sounds like I need to keep her away from you guys.
