My heart broke this morning when I heard that Matt had been found.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as they deal with the loss of this fine young man.

Though he is no longer with us on this earth...he will never truely be gone as we keep him in our memories.

May God bless Matt's family and friends.

A VERY GRATEFUL AMERICAN!!!!!

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of SSG.Keith Matthew Maupin,Thanks for being one of our heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

Dear Keith and Carolyn,

While I know this is not the outcome we have all been praying for, we can at least give thanks to God that Matt did find his way home.  The two of you have certainly been an inspiration to all of us who have had the pleasure to know you over these past four years.  Your continued commitment to our troops is just another example of your strength and courage.  I am so glad to be a member of the PGR and have the opportunity to stand for Matt.  Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.  I lowered the flag at our office today to half staff, and it shall remain there until Matt is safely home.

May God continue to strengthen and support you both and Micah during this difficult time.

DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve – is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The "United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including their life."

It is an honor that way too many people in this country no longer understand.

SSG Maupin, you are so truly appreciated. Your journey home has been long, and I am so thankful that at last you will return to your family. Although I lost my son in Iraq, and know the pain of such loss, I cannot imagine how your family has endured. I know you stand a hero now at heaven's gates; I know you were welcomed there by every one of our fallen warriors who have gone before you. May you now rest peacefully with our Lord, Matt......your selfless mission here is complete, your great sacrifice is known, and you will continue on in the memories of those who love and appreciate you , including my daughters and me, forever.
Keith and Carolyn, I pray you will now find some peace, and please know the prayers of so many have been and continue to be with you.
Micah, how wonderful that you are willing to stand for our nation as a United States Marine. What a noble and courageous thing, especially in wartime. You, too, will remain in my prayers.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom

I wish to extend my heartfelt regret and sympathy to the family of SSG Keith M. Maupin. One can only wonder at the heart ache and uncertainty that the parents, family, and friends have lived with over the past four years. As a member of the Army family, I sorrow at the final outcome. I pray to Our Heavenly Father for all the love and compassion that is imaginable to envelope the beloved of this young man...for all the days that are to be.
