I would be honored to design a badge for this mission on the PGR's behalf. This is the least that I can do for your willingness, spirit, and no questions asked to take on this mission for my community. If someone could let me know dimensions of a typical badge that’ll help in design. I'll start putting pencil to paper tonight.
Thank you! ryan carpenter city of dodge city, kansas

ATTN INDIANA: I know it's late and many of us are bedded down already for that butt-early call in the morning but I wanted to let you all know that Governor Daniels has confirmed that he WILL be at the Government Center when we make the Indianapolis stop!
All of the PGR know Mitch Daniels is a staunch PGR supporter anf his support isn't just words. We were asked to ride in the 500 Parade with him and he even wore a PGR armband. Can't get much more supportive than that.
We are indeed pleased and honored to have the Governor make time for us and join us at the Pentagon Memorial Stone display.
SO...wear your Sunday riding jeans and get the bug stains off your teeth before we pull into Indianapolis. I'll see you all in the AM. Ride safe.

West Virginia tto Ohio transfer; MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!
Staging was at 08:30 at the rest area as planned. We had about 10 riders and a couple cages present for the transport. Thank you to Rev. Jeri Bouterse(I hope I spelled it right) for giving the blessing of the stone and a prayer for the riders. Thank you to the local American Legion Color Guard for being present while we prepared for the transport. Thank you to the West Virginia State Police for providing an escort to the state line for us. We took off at 09:00 as planned with 5 bikes leading the transport vehicle, then 5 more bikes behind, with the cages in tow. The procession must have looked impressive as I noticed a lot of head-turning as we rolled down I-70 to our final destination point which we reached right on time for the transfer to Butch from Marysville.
Thank you, gratefully, to each and every rider and cager that took part in this historical event. Your participation was very apprreciated. Rick, Joe, Mike, thanks for just being there and helping me out. You helped making this part of the transport of the stone run quite smooth. Your readiness to help was a relief.
Butch received the stone at the truckstop, with Rick and Butch actually transferring the stone between vehicles, and after a few pleasantries, we turned to go home. Riding back to WV, I reflected back on what had transpired the last few days, and I personally will be for ever thankful I was able to be part of something that may never happen again. I urge all on down the line to make every attempt to take part in this transport, as it was quite self-satisfying to know I was able to be there and help out for a good cause. THANK YOU, EVERYONE !!
Ride safe, Ron J. |

Pentagon to Dodge City Memorial Stone Mission
Maryland Leg – Mission Accomplished
August 22, 2006
It was a great honor to be able to act as the Maryland Ride Captain for this portion of the mission. Others have already chronicled most of this journey before me.
I would like to express my appreciation for the hospitality of Frederick Harley Davidson for allowing us to meet the Virginia PGR contingent at their facility.
My personal thanks to Frank and the Virginia folks for putting this leg together!
It was with some trepidation that I rode on this mission. 9/11 is still fresh in my mind, and though I once worked in the area of the Pentagon that was struck that day, the Flight 93 crash site has always been emotionally important to me. For the American Heroes that died there that day were the first Americans to strike back at the terrorist that attacked my country.
Ten riders lead by Frank and Susie Q carrying the stone arrived promptly at 11:00am in Frederick. After a short pause to discuss ride routes and a little R&R, the Virginia contingent, and three Maryland riders and George and his grandson in his cage headed for Shanksville. At our lunch stop outside of Hancock another rider joined us. After a great lunch we continued our ride to the Flight 93 crash site.
It is always humbling to me when people pass our formation and honk their horns and give us a thumbs up when we are on a mission. It brings joy to my heart to know that other Americans know who we are, what our mission is, and show their support for our fallen heroes. This mission received acknowledgement from strangers that we will probably never know. If you’re reading this, thank you!
As we crested the hill and the Flight 93 site was revealed before me, I could see in my mind’s eye how the valley must have looked that day. The day that America started fighting back. And there before me was a monument in nature to the heroism of the passengers of Flight 93.
Waiting for us were the Patriot Guard from Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
The exchange has been described and captured in pictures already.
I have visited many places where great battles were fought, won, and lost. At Gettysburg, I always sense that the battle has never ended for those that gave their lives there. That every day they form up again to try once again to overcome a battle lost. At the USS Arizona, I sensed a great peace of a war won. They rest in peace.
I feared what I would sense at the Flight 93 site. But I should not have. For our heroes who gave their lives that fateful day rest in peace. They won their battle, even though it cost them their lives. For they thwarted the attack and prevented even more damage from our enemies. Average Americans, living out their normal lives, rose up and fought for us, and won. Heroes each and every one of them.
May the joining of their heroism and the stone bring peace to the monument in Dodge City as well as resolve to honor their sacrifice for our great nation.
May God bless them and my brothers and sisters in the Patriot Guard as they continue this mission.
Respectfully Yours,
Stephen C. Maley

| I just returned from Indianapolis and thought I would post something real quick before I headed back to work. I just have to say how proud and honored I am of everyone who participated in this mission today. I am forever grateful to be associated with such a fine group of men and women. As usual, everyone reinforced most professionally what the Patriot Guard Riders stands for, who we are, and why we do what we do. Fantasic job today. Excellent showing. |

The permit has been obtained for parking on Leonor K. Sullivan Blvd. in front of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. In other words, we are a go for the transfer at the arch site.
Details: "Park on the east side of L. K. Sullivan in the recessed lane alongside the overlook stage."
To make it simple, I will be on site by 8:00 a.m. to hand out copies of the permit - watch for me. If I am correct about the "recessed area", we will not be directly in front of the arch but just slightly north.
For those unfamiliar with the area, Leonor K. Sullivan is the street which runs between the Arch and the Mississippi River. The signage to get to the arch off of the highways is pretty good. Stay vigilant coming into the downtown area during rush hour.

| Ok today was a great day. first we took a stop in Robinson this morning and Todd (IL Ride Captain) presented the plaque to Mr. King that was a great moment. We then went on to meet the great people of Indiana Carl it was a good hand off things went well and seemed to be going on time, also to our suprise we had several riders out of Missouri, Joe and I excepted the Stone from the Indiana captains and placed the Stone in the Illinois National Guard Humvee, Joe and I took the lead then 2 soldiers were behind us followed by the Humvee then 2 more soldiers on bikes then the rest of the riders fell into place, we cruised westward between 65 to 70mph and the traffic was not too much of a problem, we pulled into Effingham exit 159 and entered into the parking lot of the Petro truck stop we then made the change of ride captains, Chris, Joe, and Todd then continued after a brief media stop in Effingham, everything thing on the east side went well, Thank you Todd for being back up and being medical support. I am wore out...LOL |

Well. Tiny and myself headed out about 1600 from the River. We ran East to the 36 mile marker of I-70 and waited no longer than 15 minutes for the Escort to arrive, hauling ass! We were watching from the overpass @ Pocahantas, IL. By the time we jumped in the trike and hit he ramp, the Escort was gone! It took us the better part of 10 minutes to catch up and take the rear.
The ride went well till just before Troy, IL, when drivers were being stupid, cutting in and out of the group and no care at all. The Escort did well in holding their own. We pulled off and went thru E. St. Louis, IL for about 5 minutes before arriving at the National Guard Armory where the Humvee pulled into a secure building for the evening. (Who knew there was a 'secure place' in the city limits of E. St. Louis. )
As a rear passenger at the end of the group, I saw the ignorance of the public and how much disregard for motorcyclists there was, period! I am bringing my big cage in the a.m. with LED lights on rear deck for some better traffic control across the Poplar St. Bridge in the morning and to run Westward to Columbia, MO, (130 miles), before turning and heading back home. That way the group will have their back covered and lane changing protected for half of the state. (Where it will be needed the most! Hopefully, the Kansas City group can join in before Blue Springs to help with the really stupid traffic there! (If you haven't driven in K.C. traffic, you don't know the half of it!)

Anyways, that's my two bits for tonight. To those that have photos, please send me the links to them so I can build a few folders to put up on this site. I will try to put them all in chronological order. Thanks. |
