Thank you for posting the pictures of the SSgt. Lybert funeral. I only wish I could have been there to honor this fallen hero and his brave family but I just couldn't get out of work.

Hello, I am SSG Lybert's Mom and so grateful to all of you. I have tried to pull up the shutterfly photos, but it doesn't pull me to your photos. Is there anyway you can e-mail them to me? So very appreciative, Cheryl Nussberger |

To the family of SSG Patrick Lybert, thank you for allowing us to mourn with you. My wife, Carol and I are back home safely and enjoying the comforts of our home. Your son gave the ultimate sacrifice. To this I honor him as an American Hero. He still has friends over in Iraq who are having to endure extreme weather and dangerous conditions and to them I wish them Gods Speed and a safe return. Here is a link that I think you might like. It is appropriate for a day like to day. I watched it this morning and reflected on Patrick's sacrifice. I received it this morning from a friend I call "Bear". http://www.interviewwithgod.com/july4/july4.htm

A thank you I received from Patricks aunt: "I have to tell you that every person at the funeral, that I talked to, was in awe of the support by the Patriot Riders. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though no protestors showed (that we saw), the beauty of the American flags surrounding us was incredible. Please let, if possible, everyone know in your group what an impact they have on the families. It’s incredible. I don’t think I’ll ever forget being surrounded by so much support and all the flags.
Your group is truly making a difference in what they are doing. It is unfortunate – and that word hardly says it – that all of the soldiers that died in other wars didn’t get this kind of support and recognition (specifically Vietnam). We were honored to have the group’s presence.
Keep up the super work,
Lisa "

A special thank you for all those riders that made it to Ladysmith yesterday. Your dedication, devotion, commitment and care to do the right thing never seizes to amaze me. With flags strapped on, rain gear soaked, glasses constantly being wiped off. Many of you pushed on for 3XX miles to visit a small town many of you had not seen before. With approxiametely 150 of us MN bikers crossing over to pay tribute to SSG Lybert he so justly deserves.
I have to say I am proud to be part of this movement right there along with you guys. We were able to pull together and do what's right with WI in a unified support. I did not get a chance to thank each of you for what you did but, please know each and everyone of you make the difference. And that is what makes it so beautiful, knowing that together we will make the difference here in MN as well as across this great country.
Thank you all, I am proud to ride with each of you.

Cheryl Lee,
Thank You for allowing the PGR to honor your son's memory. It was a priviledge to pay my respects to this fine young man.
I was the first flag on your right as the procession approached the church. It was at that point you saw all the people holding flags lining both sides of the street in front of the church. You gasped at the stunning sight, as did all the people in the cars behind you. I could not have been more proud to be there with these fine people, honoring Patrick and your family.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Please take care of yourselves.
Patrick, Thank You for defending my freedoms. It is people like you that have made this country great. I cannot thank you enough.
May you go with God.
DJ
PS- thanks for the generous offer of lunch following the service. I am sorry I could not attend, but felt I should be on my way.

To all riders who made it to Ladysmith yesterday, I want to thank everyone for truly making the procession to the cemetary an unforgettable site. I thought that the patriotism the town of Ladysmith showed when we went through the town was something special but coming up to the cemetary and seeing all the flags waving from both sides of the road is an image that I will never forget. I had not heard much about the Patriot Guard Riders before I attended this funeral but after coming home and reading from this website I now understand the true dedication and devotion that everyone on this site has to honor fallen soldiers. I lived with Patrick in college and know that he was looking down in true amazement of the events that happened from the church to the cemetary. I have included a couple of pictues I took while driving up to the cemetary.

First time on shutterfly so I apolgize for some of the dups.
As a first time rider.. I was impressed with the organziation and efforts of the members.
As a citizen.. I was impressed with the community and the parade route participation. To Shirley at the "Crappie Flop".. I will come back for a visit as a tourist and not such a sad reason.
To the family and friends of Sgt Lybert..... Thank You for allowing me to be part of your day. It was my honor to stand tall for your son and friend. While I appreciate your "thanks" as you rode through our ranks.. it is all of us who are in your debt for your sacrifice. I am humbled to be part of your community now.
Standing by for the next mission...

Aparently shutterfly allows you to share pictures by sending out an invitation from their site which registers the recipient as being "a friend" who can view your pictures. The other option is to post your pics on shutterfly and list your email and password which you probably don't care to do. I suggest you zip them up and send them to national and they'll add them to the photo forum for all the world to see. Just make sure they know what Mission it's from.

To the family of SSgt Lybert I extend my sincere condolences. As many other PGR members have already stated – we mourn your loss, we were honored by his service, and we are grateful to you to allow us to attend this solemn occasion.
To the community of Ladysmith – your outpouring of support and grace to this family and taking time to stand vigil and honor this young man was absolutely astounding.
To PGR members – I was honored to participate with a group of people from near and far, to show respect for this young hero, to honor his family, and demonstrate to this community and this country that his life meant something to each one of us. I will never forget the line of American flags, the members who stood and saluted for long periods of time, the total silence at the gravesite.
God Bless the family and friends of Patrick Lybert, the community of Ladysmith, and the members of the Patriot Guard Riders.
I found a link from the TV crew that attended the funeral, it includes a video clip: http://www.weau.com/home/headlines/3273106.html

Ladies and Gentleman, My funeral detail from Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, wanted to extend our sincere appreciation for the Massive show of support that you all have shown, I was so amazed and in such shock, you see My team is tasked once a Quarter to perform Military honors to those fallen heros, As service members we are required to follow extreme discipline as not to confront those morons ( Protesters ) in any way shape or form, But it requires every last bit of discipline not to confront those protestor by ripping off there arms and beating them with them, YOU ARE OUR HEROES, OUR VOICES AND OUR ROLE MODELS, I have in one year never seen the support I have seen in this small town, I love you and even cryed with an older lady and gentleman who where spending the night at the American Inn in Ladysmith, She gave me a pin to resemble and remember your team, We will NEVER EVER forget you all, I will spread your vision and express the beauty that you all exemplafy. As we completed the funeral honors I was so amazed and wanted to shake each and every one of your hands, You will never ever leave our minds. It was an honor to perform military honors to this soldier, My team just wanted you to know we apprciate all you do, Please keep up the beautiful work!!!! Once again on Behalf of the Fort Leonard Wood Funeral Details, 1st Engineer Brigade. WE LOVE YOU ALL. |

Again, I am still in awe from yesterday. I have to apologize to Patrick's Aunt though, after the soldiers came and started to thank us there already was a lump in my throat, and then you followed, As you shook my hand and offered your thanks, I was so choked up I could not say a word to you. That feeling has not passed yet but it is easier to type it out so "Thank you, it was my honor".
And to Cheryl Lee, thank you for letting us stand tall and honor Patrick.
My wife and did not see the eagles at the cemetary but on our ride home we seen a bald eagle sitting so proudly on the top of a tree looking north and the first thing I thought of and said to Colleen was "There's Patrick watching over us, making sure we get home safe."

I want to again thank the family for allowing me to honor this american hero. I say again because I had the honor of standing near the entrance of the church proudly displaying my American Flag in a show of support as the family entered. My steadfast and sturdy posture melted when the family reached out to thank ME for attending Patricks ceremony. I was not the one to be thanked, but I was speachless and consumed by emotion as they reached out to shake my hand. This was truely and honor that will always be a part of me.
To the family and friends of SSG Lybert; God Speed and Safe Passage in your journeys. This land would not be what it is if it were not for the American Soldier.
From the other perspective, I would also like to add, being a former resident of the area (Bruce native) still with many close ties to the Ladysmith area, the outpouring of support was felt and appreciated by all. |

WOW!!!PATRIOTIZM IS ALIVE AND WELL IN AMERICA thanks to the sacrifice unselfishly given by Sgt. Lybert. "GOD Bless You". The family and friends of Patrick, showed their Love, Honor and Respect yesterday as we lead Sgt. Lybert to his final resting place. It is an awesome sight to see a community join together to Honor one of their own, a True American Hero who may be physically gone, but will never be forgotten. Thank You to all of Patricks family for letting me share this with you. To Cheryl, Thank You so much for the invite to the lunch after the service. I choose to pass on it (and I don't usually pass on an invite to a meal) and head home to central MN as duty was calling me there also, your invite was much appreciated. If you are ever passing through the Brownton, MN area and are in need of assistance, please look me up, my family and I will help you get back on your way.
