Deepest sympathies and love to the Maupin family, who've shown us all what grace and love of country really mean.

Matt, you're finally coming home to us... not in the way we'd hoped, but you're still coming home. I hope and pray your loved ones can find some peace in that.

In Honor to you, your service, your family and friends:

Life is full of challenges and choices.  We can choose those that we find easy, hard, with or without award or honor.  Many take the path that is easy, some take the path that is hard, and some just get off the path and watch life go by.  Only a special few take the most challenging and sometimes most difficult path always thinking of others and country first, far before oneself.  We now take time to thank you for that choice and your family and friends for supporting you in being one of those special few. Heaven always has a room for Heroes and I pray that someday I can be in your roll-call in the Army of God.

To Matt's family Kelly and I would like to extend our most heartfelt condolences. Everyone would have liked a much different outcome and continuous prayers were sent with that request. We know that your hearts have now found some relief and that after all this time of not knowing, you can begin the journey to closure. We are all thankful to Matt and his dedication and unwavering courage in facing the enemy. That courage is a direct reflection on you and the way you raised him. Thank you for instilling in him a sense of patriotism that outlasted life itself. We are so proud of him.

SSG Maupin,

Thank you for your willingness to defend the United States of America and her freedoms and interests. Your untimely death brings much sorrow and sadness to the hearts and lives of your family, friends, military brothers and sisters, each and every member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and all who truly appreciate their freedom. We are proud of your service and dedication in that which you believed in and fought for. Your mission is complete. You are truly an American hero and the world in which we live is a safer place because of your commitment to freedom. We will now proudly stand for you with honor, dignity, and respect. We pray that you will now rest peacefully in the arms of God. May He provide peace, comfort, and understanding to each life you touched.

Thank you for standing tall for America you are our hero.  We know you are in the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on.  We will never falter, never fail, never weaken this great Nation.  Thank you for your service to our country.  We have had your picture on our refrigerator and prayed for your return continually.
To Keith , Carolyn & Micah thank you for your service alongside of this great American hero.
I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. (Lincoln to Mrs. Bixby 21Nov1864)
