This is an email I received from Brandon's Mother Genie Meyer. It was so touching and she gave me permission to post it. Please read it. B MAD
Dear Bridget, Thank you for riding with the Patriot Guard this past week. Thank you for honoring my son. I don't know if you were at the airport to meet his casket, at the funeral, or both. But someone handed me your card and said you were taking pictures. I would be glad to pay you for whatever you have. If you have a digital camera you could email them to us. Otherwise let me know and I will call you with my address. I've read your web-site. It is all so hard. I'm sorry for your loss. Spencer sounds like a great kid and a great soldier. The morning the army came to my door is forever seared into my memory. The moment I could see Brandon's coffin on the plane is as painful. Our little family is even smaller now. We have an old Bronco that we bought for Brandon when we was 15. It needed work before he could drive it, but he fixed it all. It had so much rust on the body that Brandon was given the nick name "T-Shot" on the baseball team. They said that anyone who got close to his Bronco needed a tetanus shot. We bought him a different car (also used) before he graduated from high school. It also needed work but not as much as the Bronco. In Terry's last conversation with Brandon, he told him that the Bronco was just two weeks from being finished (body and engine work). We plan to have it painted burnt orange and have pictures of Brandon and his unit painted on the outside. Terry wants a huge sound system put in it. Just like we planned to do for Brandon. I guess eventually we will be able to do more than sit in it and cry. I wish I could have met you but I just couldn't do anything but be with Brandon while I could. Thank you though for being there. Sincerely, Genia Meyer, Brandon's mom
Thank you for sharing all you did about Brandon. His memorial flyer in sitting on my bed this morning. I did do the pictures at the airport. I met your husband. What a fine man. You can call me ant time you need someone just to listen. I know the feeling of the car too. My son had a little red sports car he loved. I had to have it towed away as I couldn't look out my front door at it any more. I laid in bed for a year. I am Candymans girlfriend and will be going to a memorial today for Josh. I will send you the link to the photos. I do this for the family and don't want any family to pay me for my service. Someone , and I don't even know who, did it for me and I am so thankful. Keep in touch.
Love,
Bridget Madison |
