You folks have said it better than I can.
I just want to add a bit more.
Mr. Ulloa, thank you. For those who don't know, Mr Ulloa lost his son this past summer and the PGR was at the services. He wanted to tell us in person what we mean to the families.
At Ft Sam, just before the services started, I was struck by the silence. The PGR, the military, the friends and family. Not a sound. No children talking or baby crying, no coughing... just absolute silence. It sent a chill through me.
When that Marine Corps officer called us in, you could see the emotion in his face. He uncovered in honor to the PGR and told his story of what we mean to the family and military. With tears on his cheeks he said, "I don't care if I am standing here crying like a little girl. I had to talk to you about what you mean to us. I had to tell you thanks."
There was one family member I had been speaking with by phone, but hadn't yet meet so I went to the reception to shake his hand and thank him. While there, I met Luke's fiancee. She asked me to pass on how much Luke would have loved what we did. He loved his country and he loved bikes.
A number of people came up to say thanks. All of them said that when they turned into the church they were impressed with all the bikes and flags, but it was turning the next corner that put a lump in their throats and tears in their eyes. That was when the flag line came into view. "An awesome site.", "I was floored when I saw those flags.", "I had to stop the car just so I could take in what I was seeing."
Do we make a difference? You bet we do!
God bless our Vet's... past, present, and future. God bless the PGR for giving us a way to show how we feel, a way to help. God has blessed me. Yesterday was an example of that.
Rest now Luke Holler, and thank you.

To Joey Holler and Luke's Family and Friends,
It is our group's HONOR to do what we could to honor your Brother and all the others. PLEASE keep the HAPPY memories of Luke in your memory and your heart! Time will, slowly, ease your burden, but the happy memories will remain... I've been through this nearly 20 years ago with MY brother...
As time passes, remember him and SMILE... and when you feel like it, remember the laughs... those never go away...

No mater how many missions we make, hearing Taps and the 21 gun salute still send a chill down my spine and makes me swell up. Stand a little taller and be proud you live in this great country.
It was an honor to ride for this great American. Glad we had such a large turn out despite the parades and cermonies going on. Nice to meet all the new members.
Lance Corporal Holler, thank you for allowing us to share your last ride! Rest in peace, your mission is complete! |

SE Texas Ride Report Cpl. Luke Holler Mission in San Antonio Saturday the 11th Veterans Day
A dozen or so riders from SE Texas braved the cold and a nasty crossing wind to ride in honor of Cpl. Luke Holler. A number of our riders were veterans who on their day to be honored, wanted to spend it honoring a fallen brother in arms. Thank you for doing so.
We had to calculate our departure to avoid the Texas Honor Ride and getting caught up with them in traffic to San Antonio. We arrived at the church just a few minutes off schedule and found some 60 bikes already in the parking lot. There were a good number of riders from Austin and surrounding areas which was needed as the San Antonio PGR was working the Texas Honor Ride fuel stop. Gary and Gayle brought the flags and they helped to make the mission. We had to give the flags back to the state PGR so they are gone. We are working on our own flags and already have some on the way here. More on this at a later date.
BigShell did a great job heading up the mission. There were more military at this mission than any of the other 25 I have attended. And they sure made us feel appreciated and welcome as just about all of them went up and down our flag line shaking every member’s hand. At the internment the cold lifted and it was a beautiful day with just enough wind to keep the flags flying. There was a helicopter fly over and a bag piper that played amazing grace and them broke into the Marine Corp hem at the end.
Each mission is different and I leave with memories I will always have, I’d like to share to them with you:
While standing in the flag line a gentleman walked up to me with his two sons and asked where they could get flags to hold, after I let him know they returned and stood next to me in the flag line. After we introduced our selves, I sensed this was there first mission so I politely asked if it was. “Yes, this is my first mission as a member of the PGR”, he said. “The PGR was at my son, George Ulloa, Jr, services in August, ”,. George Sr later gave us all a thank you speech for what we do.
After the service a Marine officer gathered us all together to thank us for being there and expressed how much it means to the families of our fallen heroes and to the active service men too. It was an emotional thank you that brought him and us to tears.
We were the last group to leave as we waited for Gayle to find her father’s grave at Ft. Sam so she could place flowers on it. While we were waiting someone from the funeral home asked us to give them a hand. We went and helped put Cpl Holler and casket into the hurst (sp) so they could bring him to his final resting place. All the family and guest had left except for one young lady who had remained to be with Cpl Holler, it was his fiancée.
430 miles, 14.5 hours mission accomplished, RIP Cpl Holler and may His peace and grace be with your family.

It was a day of sadness and a day of extreme pride to ride for this young man and be able to be there when the Lord took him home. For I have been on only 4 missions now, mostly because all of my vacation is gone and I can usually only make the weekend escorts. The thing is that every time I go, I end up crying like a child for a man or woman I never had the absolute priviledge to know. Thank you to the PGR and to the family of this fine young hero for allowing me to participate in his final ride. It was an HONOR and a PRIVELEDGE like no other. The helicopters on this one were especially moving and it shows just how much this young hero was loved. Again, thanks to the family and the PGR for having me. Until (hopefully not) next time. Take care and GOD bless everyone.

I received the following comment on my blog yesterday, and wanted to share it with all of you:
To ALL of the PGR Riders,
The Holler family has been honored by the sacrifice all of you made on last Saturday to stand guard for my “Marine Son”. Words can not possibly express the deep comfort and pride we felt when we arrived at the church and saw all of you there. Then to look behind us and know you were following and then to see you standing and ready at his side as we said our last goodbyes.
We will forever be in your “debt” and you have our loyalty and gratefulness. Our Luke, loved it!
