If all goes as planned, I will be at I-29/exit 18 at 0730 Sat AM for this important mission. I am also planning to go on to Kirksville later that day. This drive will be very familiar to me as I grew up in Kirksville and lived there for 30 years. I will be 53 years old on that day and I can't think of any better way to spend my birthday, then to honor this fallen soldier.

I'll be there with three other riders for sure from work, if anyone is coming down through Missouri 71 south, you're more than welcome to ride with us. Just let me know and I'll shoot you the times. Doc, if you need tailgunners for a group, we can bring up the rear of a group since we ride together and know each others habits.

Sid, we'll actually be heading north and then east ( after the mission ) I live in the Northwest corner of the state and the other riders are coming from SW Iowa. After the mission we will probably be going to Rulo, Mound City and whatever two lane blacktop looks good that way. If you want to go and peel off when we cross I-29 somewhere around Mound City that would be cool. We will most likley stop and get something to eat before we leave White Cloud anyway so there's no rush to figure it out. See you all Saturday.

May God bless this mission for PFC Bradbury. I was planning on supporting this one, but unfortunately, we now have one in Omaha for a Millard West soldier at the same time. Take care.

To: CGardner from Topeka ALR 400. I pre rode the mission to St Joe today. I thought I'd give you a short version of the route if ya'll are still taking that route..

1. Out of Topeka on 24 to 4 North.
2. 4 North ends and changes to 59 at Nortenville.
3. Take 59 all the way into St Joseph. ( Make sure you stop before the bridge in Atchison and put on your helmets if you haven't already. )
4. As you come into St Joseph on 59 take a right an Alabama St (752 hwy). There is a Taco Johns on the NW corner of the intersection. 752 will take you right onto 229 where you can merge onto 29 North.
5. Get on 29 North
6. Take 29 North to exit 47B. This is the exit to Frederick Road.
7. Make a right on Fredrick Road and go thru 2 stop lights. Keep looking to the right and you will see American Legion Post 359. Its accross the street from a cemetary which is on the left.

It took me approximately 3.5 hours with one gas stop from Manhattan. It should take you 2.5 hours to get to the American Legion in St Joseph. Kai

P.S. Judy who is the bartender of the post, says she will have the Legion open by 0800 hours.

If you follow Kai's route be extremely careful in the area where 59 and 36 intersect as it is notorious for accidents.  An alternate route would be as you come into town on 59 take a right an Alabama St (752 hwy). There is a Taco Johns on the NW corner of the intersection. 752 will take you right onto 229 where you can merge onto 29 North. Then pickup up Kai's directions at step 8. If you have any questions you can pull this up on www.mapquest.com

Doc, Pbrobbins or Red...on the ride home tonight I was wondering if maybe St. Joe PD / Highway Patrol is or will provide an escort to the highway or further? This would help with traffic concerns if there is going to be three or more large groups. I saw where Lenexa and Platte City are helping. Are we going I-29 to Hwy 36? That's what mapquest shows. St. Joe wouldn't have to block but a couple of intersections and I'm rambling so I'll end it here. Just some questions we had up here. Thanks

BMC_Rider.....thanks for the thoughts....safety will be our main concern for this mission.  LEO in Lenexa and Platte City will offer a traffic block and escort onto the the highway at both locations.   Each group of approx 15 riders will be separated by at least a mile.  Since it's a straight shot up I-435 and I-29 with only 30 miles for each leg, this will be an easy ride.

We will exit @ Frederick Ave. (north of Hw 36) in St. Joe.  Turn East for a few blocks to the American Legion Staging area.  It's an easy exit off I-29 to Frederick Ave.  A LEO escort would probably not be necessary.

For the escort to the cemetery in White Cloud, I'm sure Big Dog has that covered.  Haven't talked to him, as he's been at GOTG.  Big Dog always does things right, no concern there.

For All Riders going to Kirksville:  We can meet up with "Rader" on the Red Victory for the trip to Kirksville. The lady at Days Inn knows Rader and set up a special rate of $35 for the PGR.
