I have been asked to pass along a request from the family -

The family has been reviewing this thread and are very moved by all the well wishes.

The family said a couple of the pictures that have been posted to the thread they have not seen before, so they figure there are more out there.

They are asking anyone and everyone who has pictures of Greg and/or his kids from any event, please send them to the following email address directly - Ro has volunteered to collect these photos and make a CD for the family.

ridenfever@yahoo.com

Thank you on behalf of the Bowman family.

Rider Down, We read with Heavy Hearts when part of Us Falls and Smile looking up, that another joins a higher order of "Welcome Home". Yet no answers come to me, I think, Ride Free Friend, many have known you and Stand to Honor your gift, your personal sacrifice and support. Know that in Flag lines across the Nation when we are quiet we remember...
My sincere condolences to your Family and Friends we all bare the loss of Hero's and we Never Forget.

Although I don't recall us ever meeting Greg his loss will be felt by us as well.
In fact, after reading all of the posts, we will probably feel his lose more than anyone now that we no longer have the chance/privilage of being able to shake his hand and stand next to him as many of you have.
This is a terrible event and I cannot really even try to explain how I feel as I am sure many of you cannot either.
It hurts whenever we lose an American hero but when it's one of our own it hurts a little more.

Our condolences to the family.

I am so very sorry to hear of Greg's passing. I know how much the missions meant to him and I know serving on them is a sacrifice on the part of every rider. You ride, however, to honor the sacrifices of our soldiers. Thanks to all of you who give of yourselves for our heroes. May you all remember why you ride and be there in love and comraderie at this very difficult time. To the Bowman family, God's blessings on all of you. You are in my prayers.

***** Mission Update 11 Sep 2007 6:00pm *****

Fri, 14 Sep 2007

Visitation is being held at:

Norberg Memorial Home

701 E Thompson

Princeton, IL

Times are 4:00pm to 8:00pm (note - 1 hour earlier than previously indicated)

The family is expected to arrive about 3:30pm

Staging time: 2:30pm

Staging location:

The parking lot of the Bethel Baptist Church, it's parking lot (hard pack gravel) backs up to the funeral home parking lot. If additional space becomes necessary, the funeral home has OK'd parking on their grass - so please bring kickstands coasters. The entrance to the church parking lot is off of Innsbruck Ln - the first street east of the funeral home.

Briefing at 3:00

Flag line immediately following

Please note: The family has requested that ALL PGR members in attendance do a 'Walk Thru' honorarium at 8:00pm.

Sat, 15 Sep 2007

The funeral service will be at:

St. Louis Catholic Church

616 S Gosse Boulevard

Princeton, IL

Service begins at 10:30am

Staging time: 9:00am

Staging Location:

To be determined

Briefing at 9:15am

Flag Line immediately following

The family has requested that ALL PGR Ride and Road Captains in attendance at the Sat service to be inside the church for the service.

There will be no burial as Greg's wishes are to be cremated, with his ashes distributed at specific points he had determined.

However, the family has requested that ALL PGR members escort the family home after the services and plan on staying for 'family time' and a meal - they consider, as did Greg, that the PGR IS family. Greg's wife said 'if there are 150 motorcycles parked in the front lawn, Greg would be very, very happy' (plans are in place for a large crowd - try to plan on staying). I spoke with Deputy Chief Allan Beaber of the Princeton Police who was a 10+ year friend of Greg's and asked him if he would do the honor of leading the escort to the family home and he agreed.

Parking will be on grass - bring a kickstand coaster.

Please watch this thread for updates - SEMPER GUMBY

I am in need of a good picture that I can use for a momento for the family to keep. It will be very small so close-up head shots of his smile would be great. Could some of you send me a few of your favorites to my personal e-mail also? I know the family and myself will really appreciate it.

I am the wife of a Marine veteran. I stand by him with honor and respect.

Humbled to serve My Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by doing whatever I can to show others the love of God by spreading the Gospel!!

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, but by me." John 14:6 It's not about "religion", it's about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your Savior. Do you know Jesus personally??
He suffered and died for all of our sins and is offering the gift of eternal life. Please accept Him and you will receive his gift.

True Love is sacrificial giving...... not just good intentions!!

Photo memories from missions we have done -- www.pgrmemoriesbymerlene.shutterfly.com -- I pray they will bring honor and comfort to those who need it.

I have given myself two days for the right words to come to me for this, and I have realized and accepted the fact that the right words may never come.

The last time I shared Mission Ground with Greg, we each grabbed one end of a cooler of bottled water and walked the flag line, offering water to those who were standing for a fallen Soldier.
I have the privelage of that memory, walking with that great man, while supporting all those who were supporting what we all stand for.
That was a few months ago.
Prior to and since that Mission, as the State Captain, I have worked very closely with Greg, almost on a daily basis, and mainly via email, in his capacity as the Senior Ride Captain for the northern part of the state.
Greg continuously lead, organized and inspired the membership in his Area of Operation with a style and the success that I have never seen before. He managed to accomplish every Mission and Event that was tasked to him, and there were many. There were times when I thought we were going to have to decline a request, but somehow he managed to make it happen, each and every time.
I know that Greg is not a Veteran, nor did I know him nearly as well as some others did, but I consider Greg to be one of my comrades, and I have had several in my time, but those were in lands far away, and during times of war. Greg is a true Hero. A Hero to America, his family and to his extended family.... the Patriot Guard Riders. I'm sure his family is proud of him, and rightfully so.

The memories of Greg, his style, his accomplishments and his love shall serve as a lesson to all of us. I'm sure he and memories of him, have and will continue to inspire those who knew him. At the same time, I don't think Greg would expect any of us to do everything exactly the way he did, nor always as well as he may have, but to do the best that we all can, as individuals, as well as a Team and to maintain the "Mission First" philosophy. I think that is what he would want. That is what any of us would want. Often times we would hit each other with the same thoughts and ideas, and he would always respond with "great minds think alike". I am honored to think that he felt that way about me, but that's Greg.

Mom and Dad Bowman, my wife and I have experienced the tragic loss of a child, we do know what you are going through. This will be the hardest challenge you have had in your life.
To the remainder of Greg's family, I cannot personally relate to your loss, but I assure you that you have my most sincere respect and full support.

Patriot Guard Riders, we all suffer the loss of our brother Greg, we all greive in our own way. We will  accept, personalize and work through this loss individually but yet, lean on each other for the strength to carry on with the Mission.

God Speed,

SlingBlade

To The Bowman Families,

My heart is with you in the days to come as you say goodbye to your husband, father, son, brother, your best friend. I did not know Greg personally, through the PGR I had contact with him via email, he was helping me with an issue. From what I have read Greg was dedicated to everything, especeally his family, and always helping others. Greg was one of my earthly Angels who escorted my husband home, for that I am forever grateful, a heart stopping moment. Greg will now be your Heavenly Angel watching over you always. May you find comfort in the memories he has blessed you with as each memory becomes a treasure. My prayers are wth you. God Bless You All!
