Princeton Rally Point - The Rovinski escort rally point in Princeton is the same place we used for the Lufkin escort.  Road Ranger truck stop at the intersection of Interstate 80 and IL Highway 26.  Use Exit 56 on I-80 at the 4 huge US flags. Road Ranger is on the northeast side of the exchange. Road Ranger has premium fuel, food, restrooms, etc.  Date and time not yet known as of 6:30 AM on Monday.  Date and time will be posted to the PGR site as soon as I get confirmation.  (I ASSUME it will be sometime Monday afternoon or evening.)

Please note - Mrs. Rovinski and the children are connecting with the escort here at Princeton.  We need to maintain a high respect level to support them in any way possible.  This function will be exceptional as other families who have lost soldiers to Iraq will be present for Mrs. Rovinski.

More details may be posted as they become available.

Just a last minute note:

I will be riding from Urbana to Galesburg on Tuesday afternoon. Its a straight shot west on I-74 through Bloomington (which is about the 1/2 way point for me).

If anyone is headed along the same route and wants to meet up, just post here or email me and we can set a time/place to meet up. I don't mind riding alone, but its always better to ride with someone.

Best.

Chris.

I will be leaving Polo and picking up another rider in Dixon for tonight's escort from Princeton. As soon as times are confirmed we will be leaving the BP truck stop at the south end of Dixon in plenty of time to make the rally point in Princeton and then on to Galesburg and points in between.

I want to echo something that my brother posted earlier. The Princeton rally point is where Mrs Rovinski and their daughters will first meet his remains. This will be an emotional time for all. Be prepared. I know a little about this and I know how tough it can be. I am just trying to make everyone aware.

Princeton Rally Point - Flight lands at 5:50 PM.  Usual travel from Princeton to O'Hare is 2 hours.  Figure to be in Princeton and fueled, ready to ride at 8:00 PM.  Earlier would be a good idea.  I'll be there before 7:00 PM. Looks like we have 13 riders and Max riding tail gunner.

Dixon Rally Point - we will leave the BP truck stop at the intersection of Rt26 and I88 at 6:30 headed for Princeton. Approx 30 miles for gas figuring. We will gas at Princeton and be ready to roll out there with the rest of the group. Looks chilly but at least it's not raining this time. Be prepared for interstate travel. Close quarter riding at Interstate speeds with no stops.

My heart and prayers are with the Ravinski family...

Im getting ready to pack up the bike..
Chris is concerned that with consrtuction that the weigh station will be dangerous merging..
I talked to my truck drivers and that weigh station is open for trucks so my thought is that if they are still weighing trucks that we should be good to merg as well.
I would think that 10 or so bikes can merg faster than an 80,000 lb truck....especially with a police escort..
We will meet at the weigh station and see what it looks like when we get there.
Hope to see a lot of you riding for this true American Hero.
Ride Safe.

Princeton Rally Point - I just spoke with PGR's Joe Alger.  Flight is on schedule to O'Hare.  They are picking up additional riders at a rest area on I-80 and then heading to Princeton on schedule. We expect them here around 8:00 PM.  PGR riders should be here in time to refuel and be ready to roll before 8:00 PM

12 Jun 2006 5:54 PM Alert
Flight has landed early and everything is on track.  Petty Officer 1st Class Gary Rovinski home should arrive in the Galesburg area somewhere around 10:00 p.m. and will continue on to Monmouth, Roseville, Monmouth and then to Galesburg.  Everyone should monitor WAAG-FM 94.9 for updates on the motorcade's progress.

The plan is to take Interstate 55 to Interstate 80, then I-80 to Interstate 74 east.  The new plans, however, are for the processional to exit at U.S. 34, then head to North Henderson Street, where it will head south to Fremont Street. At Fremont Street, the vehicles will turn right (west) and go past Galesburg High School to Linwood Road, where a left turn will take the processional to Main Street. It will then turn right (west) to U.S. 34 West to U.S. 67 in Monmouth, the original route.

The route was changed so people in Galesburg can pay their respects and watch the processional go through town, rather than gathering along U.S. 34, a limited-access highway.

The remainder of the route will be U.S. 67 south to Illinois 116 East (Roseville), to 90th Street (turn left), to 90th Avenue (turn left), to U.S. 67 North back to Monmouth at West Broadway to Sunnylane (turn left) to West Harlem (turn right) to North Main Street (turn right) to East Broadway to North Sixth Street (turn left) to East Clinton (turn right), to Monmouth College, at the north end of the Huff Athletic Center, where there will be a brief service. Bagpipers and the Monmouth Ecumenical Singers will perform.

The motorcade will go past the family home and church, as well as Hill Correctional Center before its arrival at the college. Following the ceremony at Monmouth College, the family will remain behind and the Patriot Guard Riders and an Illinois State Police squad car will escort the hearse back to Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home.

Will keep all posted with details as they become available.
