Shame that this mission is the same time as the one for Spc. Hermanson from Fargo, ND. I was hoping to attend both, but for the sake of time and mileage, I will now plan to be at the mission for LCpl. Posivio on Friday. Will be leaving Rice Lake, WI early Friday A.M., and approaching the Twin Cities from the north via Hwy 8 and !35. Would love to meet up with any other riders along the way.

As I work nights, it is hard to commit to an exact time I will be on the road, so if any groups getting together in these areas could please post your plans here, I will do my best to get to a meeting place on time.

I am very proud to part of the PGA, I grew up in Sherburn, MN and am very proud to call Rober Pasivio Jr a close friend of mine. I also had the honor of meeting Pattie on Monday as I attended the memorial service in honor of the fallen heros they honored that day. After meeting Pattie, and knowing Robert Jr, I knew right there that Robbie had been raised with all the love that any mother and father could give. I was on the phone with Robert this morning (Robbies father) I had a nice talk with him, and he is very happy that the PGR is going to be there to honor this fallen hero. He told me that Robbie deseves the best, I told him this is the least we could do for the sacrifice he gave to protect our freedom. If any of you that go on Friday have the honor to meet this wonderful family, you will see in there eyes, and in there hearts the love they have for this country. Bob and Pattie and the rest of your family, my heart goes out to you, May god bless you and keep you in his grace, And to Robbie, God bless your soul and may you rest forever in his peace.

I am honored to say I met robbies parents and family this last weekend . And got to talk to robbie's dad . He is a very nice man and has a good heart . It was hard to watch that memorial service last weekend becuase of my family that has pasted away. But seeing there flags it was a honor . An d to be part of the lutterman family is a great honor knowning all they have done for this country .   Rest In Peace Robert G. Posivio .  And God Bless America and robbies family.

Hey Tuxedo61 of Rice Lake, this mission is NOT confirmed for this Friday....the latest update is that the soldier's body has not been confirmed as being to the US, and that the funeral will mostly likely be AFTER Friday, June 2nd.

I, too, am planning on attending both missions, the one in Fargo and this one.

Living in Blaine, and having to head south & west on Friday morning, I wouldn't mind setting-up a meet point in the Fridley/ Columbia Heights area (so even those that are coming from farther north could meet there).

I know I'll need to stop for gas, and would also like to stop for breakfast.

Looks like it will take at least 2-1/2 hours of riding to get to Fairmont;  don't know what time we need to be there yet.

So, once we know what time the funeral is set for, and what time we need to meet in Fairmont before that, I can set a time.

For now, the location is:  Hwy. 694 & Hwy. 65 (Central Ave.), southwest quadrant - where the new Target Greatland is being built (its not finished yet, so there should be plenty of parking)

Not a Rider, but current uniformed member of the US Army.  I would like to attend if possible (a wedding might interfere)  However, I would like to know if it would be better to be in uniform or more civilian attire.  Have Class As (ill fitting due to weight loss)  or BDU/ACUs avaliable.

Please wait a bit before trying to set up additional staging areas. Believe me, all of us RCs and others in the state leadership have been busting in mega time on getting everything set up. We will have multiple staging areas set up all over the state. We would ask that everyone report to their closest staging area after the lists have been posted. After we get this info finalized and posted if there is a region that is lacking we can get someone to set something up.

For right now please bear with us and know that we are working hard to get the mission planned quickly, but also to make sure that it is done right to properly honor LCpl. Posivio.

My heart sank when I read the release on the DOD website. My brother, LCpl Philip Martini was killed on April, 8th in Al Anbar and was... is a Marine from the 1/1 as well (Bravo). If there is one thing I can say as someone who has had to recently go through this... The Patriot Guard Riders are truly heroes and what they did for my brothers (the wackos from Kansas actually came to my brothers funeral) was beyond words. Robert was a Hero and I will keep abreast of the releases as best I can and do everything in my power to attend his wake and/or funeral (I have missed so much work already Im sure they are about to fire me... then again who cares!). Robert, your family, and the other boys over there are all in our prayers!

The funeral for LCpl. Robert Posivio will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006, at 10:30 AM. C.S.T.

The staging area for this mission will be at the Fair Grounds in Fairmont, Minnesota.  To get to the fair grounds take exit 99 off I-90, and go south on one half mile on County Road 39.  The fair grounds will be on your left.  PGR members will be at the fair grounds to get riders lined up.

PLEASE, DO NOT GO DIRECTLY TO WELCOME....

Schedule:

7:30 AM.......Fair grounds open.  Bikes will be lined up 2x2 as you arrive.
8:15 AM.......Pre ride briefing
8:30 AM.......Leave fairgrounds for short ride down I-90 to Welcome, MN
9:00 AM.......Arrive in Welcome, MN.
10:30 AM.....Funeral Services begin.

All riders will need to sign a PGR Waiver of Liability.

All flags and baggage will need to be secured on your bikes prior to leaving Fairmont.  We will be traveling down I-90 at highway speeds.

There are no gas stations or convenience stores off Exit 99.  Gas and services can be found at the next exit east on I90 at exit 102.  If you are riding in from the east on I-90, Blue Earth  also has a convenient gas station right off I-90.

Welcome, MN is a small town, population 721.  There are limited services in Welcome.   Please bring several bottles of water and some food for yourself.  PGR members must plan to be individually self supporting during your day in Welcome.

Following the funeral services, we have been asked by LEO in Welcome to delay our departure from town until the traffic has a chance to clear.  So please be patient , this is a small town with  limited access into or out of town.  Our actions and behavior after the funeral are as important as how we conduct ourselves before and during the funeral services.

There will be additional information posted with "Pre-stage" locations and departure times in Minnesota.

jshafland, any other new riders, folks that may be visiting after listening to KQRS this morning:

Please try to bring a 3' X 5' US flag with a pole. You can get one at Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Home Depot, Fleet Farm, and many other places. Usually a basic setup is about $10 - $20 max. Also, please go to one of the prestage areas that will be posted on here later today rather than going directly to Fairmont. As for attire, most of us will be in normal riding gear. We don't expect people to get on and ride 150 miles each way in a 3-piece suit.

I will be running a staging area at St. Paul Harley Davidson off of I-94 & Century Ave (MN-120).
If you will be coming to this area please let me know. If you can I'd like to have you stop by my place in Woodbury on Friday afternoon/evening and I'll lend you another cooler to use and a couple of cases of bottled water.

For those of you traveling on 4 wheels, you are very welcome to join us! If at all possible bring some extra water in a cooler to share with your bothers and sisters on 2 wheels.

As to what to wear. Those on 2 wheels will most likely be wearing jeans, chaps, t-shirt/denim shirt, vests, dewcaps/baseball caps. So dress casual if in 4 wheels, whatever you'll feel comfortable in. Remember we will be standing on blacktop and it will be HOT so everyone bring extra water so you don't go down from the heat. Expect to be out in the sun for a minimum of 2-3 hours. Bring a 3x5 flag and pole if at all possible.

And remember we are there to HONOR LCpl. Robert G. Posivio and pay our RESPECT to his family and his community and that is our only job that day.

Bob and Patty Posivio are two of the nicest people I've met in a very long time and I wish each and every one of you had been given that honor that Kevin and I were granted in meeting with them privately. They deserve the very best that we can possible give them on Saturday.

The Mankato sector will be staging at the Mankato Harley Davidson, 1200 North River Drive, Mankato, MN (just off Highway 14 & US 169) at 6:10am and leaving there at no later than 6:30am.

We will be traveling down US 169 to I-90 West and going directly to Welcome, MN where we are in charge of traffic and crowd control and therefore will not be stopping at the main staging area in Fairmont.

All persons riding with the PGR will need to sign the PGR Waiver of Liability prior to leaving Mankato Harley Davidson.

The PGR have been asked to delay our departure from Welcome until some of the traffic clears town after the funeral, so please be patient, and expect that we will have to wait some amount of time after the funeral before we can leave. If this is a problem for any one, I will suggest that they find another way to spend their day.

There are few services available in Welcome. Please bring several bottles of water, and some food. PGR members must plan to be self supporting during your day in Welcome.

All members are encouraged to bring video cameras and still digital cameras so that we can create a Minnesota PGR archive of our missions.

Well said, George...and don't forget sunblock.

A small observation - at another mission, it bothered me to see cigarette butts left behind by us (and I am a smoker). I made sure my butts went in my pocket, and didn't smoke at all around the family and friends, like when they were exiting the church. At a time like this, little things *do* matter.

Imagine that's your brother, your son, your nephew being laid to rest...and act as you'd want others to act on such a day. I don't want to do anything, no matter how small, that would diminish the respect and gratitude I feel for someone who gave all.
