On behalf of the North Dakota National Guard, 164 Engineer Batallion, Alpha Company, Third Platoon (Hermanson's Platoon), we would like to thank each and every one of you who rode to our friends funeral. Your presence is important, and very welcome, especially under the circumstances. Mike will be missed very much, and we will continue our mission with the sharpest of eyes in honor of him. God Bless you all, and again, thank you. Keep up the good work.

Hello all,
I am glad to see such a large and warm response for Spc. Hermanson's ride.
My wife wanted to let you all know that you would be more than welcome to gather at the American Legion tonight if you wish. It is located at: 503 3rd Ave N, in downtown Fargo.
Tonight's special is all-you-can drink domestic taps for $8. Even if you can go and not partake in the cordials, my wife would like to give you a big thankyou hug in person for showing up and making this a very special and honored event for the family.
regards and thanks!

| I know it's late notice but, due to the large turnout, the mission brief will be held at 11 am instead of 10 am. Thanks. |

| I have to say this was my first PGR mission, I am not a vet but know people who are, and I respect all soldiers, I was impressed with the large turnout, did not like what i heard from the other side, but kept my cool and held my flag and clapped my hands proudly. I hope I dont have to attend another PGR mission (no more fallen soldiers) but if another one comes up close by I will go. |
|
I salute all current and past soldiers for what they have done. "THANK YOU" and to my dad Floyd Cox for being a great father and continuing to be a great father. |

I have never felt more proud to be an American than I did, standing with all of you, today. If Mike had still been alive, today, he would have been standing with us, clapping, saluting our soldiers, waving a flag proudly, and laughing his everloving arse off at those fools across the street. Thanks, again, everyone. You made this day a proud moment in a time of grief for the friends and family of Mike Hermanson. Thank you. |

I want to thank everyone for helping make my first PGR a great one. I have never seen so much support for one man. Living in Fargo, I watched the news tonight and it was mostly about this afternoon. We really had a great possitive impact on the community showing our support, and I know the family deeply appreciates it. I hope there is not another PGR for another fellow soldier, but by God's will if there is, I would be honored to help represent this strong group on another mission. Thanks

Congrats to Brad and all the others that had a hand in yesterday's mission. I was proud to be there with the rest of you and will be standing by if needed in the future.
The best story that I've seen so far was from WDAY. ( Here )
Well done, PGR!

I was honored and overwhelmed with the reception when I arrived in uniform, and I was ecstatic to see so many honoring Michael and supporting his family. I'm very proud to have stood by your sides in honoring this young man and his ultimate sacrifice. The protestors were hardly noticed, and I know the family appreciated our presence.
I also enjoyed meeting and visiting with several of you. I will definitely be joining you on missions when I get a bike. In the meantime, if there is an unfortunate need in Fargo, I will be there! Although, with the way things turned out, I doubt they'll be back. They weren't able to accomplish their mission and were highly ignored and drowned by the presence of all of the supportive, patriotic people present. Dave, thanks for the ride to the burial.
Still proud to be an American and a member of our United States Armed Forces!!! And thanks to all of you who have served in the past!!! For those of you I met, I was the one in the Air Force Honor Guard uniform.
Erik, you and your platoon can continue your missions over there with great pride. You have so much support here! There were 7 protestors and an estimated 200-300 PGRs according to the news. I thought you'd also like to know that the protestors left before the funeral services began. With the PGRs and other patriotic Americans honoring your friend and comrade, we surrounded three blocks of the church with people and flags! Keep up the great work and come home safely! HUA!
I also received this email from a civilian friend that I thought I'd share:
"Hello MSG Elliott, It was nice to see you this past Friday. Good to see you and the other Happy Hooligans (the local Air National Guard) present. Too bad it was not under happier circumstances. I have forwarded photos you may like to your gmail account. Take care, Joe"

We were honored to be a part of the tribute to this American Hero. North Dakota you did this young man proud. As we were coming in on I-94 several vehicles honked and gave us the thumbs up, as we stopped to unwrap the Stars and Stripes several more did the same. I did not know what to expect when we got to the church, and was totally blown away by the number of bikes and the size of the crowd..Brad you and your RC's did an outstanding job, count on us to be there if the need arises again..Again outstanding North Dakota, you did this Hero proud and the PGR also.

Just got home from Fargo. Wind and Sun burnt, got a little wet, even got pinged with a little hail. Pretty tired, but just have to get a post up here. There is a helluva lot of people to thank, and I'd love to thank all in person. Have to give it to Brad, you pulled off a fantastic mission. We could have been a little more organized, but the primary reason we weren't, was due to the tremendous turnout. I have lots of pics and will be posting a lot of them to the website, so stay tuned. Also got a lot of video, but haven't watched it yet. I will also try to post it somehow (not a computer guru), or at least post on the web site a link to it. I could go on and on about our turnout, participation, and fantastic support. Thanks from the bottom of my heart to all who made this mission. Your behavior was outstanding and we received many, many compliments. People literally stopped on the streets to thank us. A guy in front of me at a stop sign, got out of his truck, walked back to me, and asked if I was PGR. When I responded yes, he had to shake my hand and tell me how grateful he was that we were there. The general public was awsome. The Fargo PD had high compliments towards us. I received Thank-You's from Adjutant General Haugen and many other military brass that was in attendance. The clergy was extremely appreciative of our support. Most importantly, Layne and Lottie Hermanson were absolutely overwhelmed by the level on honor and respect we bestowed upon their son and their family. Now thats what we're all about, right? I haven't yet talked to my son since we got back, but as you can see by his post, he and all the soldiers of Co. A, 164 are very grateful for what we've done. Those guys will be getting all the video and pics soon. My wife Cathy and I have never been prouder to belong to an organization, and never been prouder to be an AMERICAN! Thanks for allowing us the priveledge to be associated with such a group of top-shelf people. God Speed to our fallen warrior, Mike Hermanson.

This was heard, read, seen, all over the state and beyond.
Everywhere you looked there were articles regarding Spc. Hermanson and
the PGR being there to honor him and sheild his loved ones from the
protesters. I was not there but from what I have heard and seen
it was beyond description. Randy is my brother, Erik my
nephew. From what Randy and Cathy said about their trip, it was
an amazing experience. (One that you hope you never have again... but
if it happens, PGR will be there!)
My husband has been asking to get a bike for years and I have
repeatedly told him, "your next wife can get you one"... ha ha
ha... But perhaps you will see us trade in the horses for a Hog
yet! We would be proud to be PGR *riders*, that is... in
the meantime we will be PGR forum members and supporters. Perhaps
Matt will try his hand at airbrushing some cool PGR stuff. (He
airbrushes helmets, motorcycles, clothing, anything that will hold
paint pretty much....)
I can't wait to see the photos and video. Let me know if I can be of assistance in getting any of that up online.
Best wishes to you all & thank you for making all of us and especially our military men and women so proud!

Apologies for not posting sooner but was out of state for a day. As Randy said there are so many people to thank. Layne, Lottie, Lindsay, and Aaron Hermanson - We are honored, more than words can say, that you invited us to participate. I want all to know why the first mission, of this kind, in North Dakota was so successful. EVERONE that participated: riders, non-riders, members, non-members (soon to be though!). Randy and Cathy - for your assistance, leadership, and friendship. Lars - for doing a hundred tasks Friday at the drop of a hat and heading up the Woody Keeble mission so I could concentrate on Michael's. Joe and Linda Smith - from Missouri and in North Dakota for the summer - Your mission experience, advice, and the ride prayer was very much appreciated. Adjutant General Haugen and all the military personnel for "walking the line" and thanking us for our support. Thank you for your service to our country!. I think one soldier shook everybody's hand. Dale - from the First Lutheran Church for everything you did. MeritCare employees for giving up their parking spots for a day. I met with the Fargo Police Department after the mission was complete to review the day and was told to pass on that we are a "class organization". They are very pleased with the way the day turned out. I also had people shake my hand and thank us for what we are doing. The girl behind the counter at the fast food restaurant, filling with gas at Petro, and yesterday a couple at a rest area by Bozeman,MT. This couple had just seen something on the news the night before about what happened in Fargo, ND, saw the PGR sticker on the back of my vehicle and wanted to thank me personally for what our organization is doing. They were from Oregon, were going to join when they got home, and get things in high gear there. I spoke with the Fargo PD everyday. And every day the number I gave him went up, and up, and up. I have to admit that I totally under estimated the number of people that would turn out and apologize for the disorganization at times. The support and kindness you all showed toward the family and the military brought me to tears more than once. Kevin is so right - WHAT A CLASS ORGANIZATION !! Brad Volk Patriot Guard Riders

Deepest sympathy to the Hermanson family on their loss and my utmost respect and honor for Michael in his sacrifice for his country.
The Patriot Guard Riders also deserve much credit for keeping those with no respect or honor out of sight and hopefully out of mind, I joined today. |

This was my first mission, and what an amazing one at that. For the number of members that showed up to honor Spc. Hermanson. It was too bad that the UG's had to show up, but as all the news stations will tell you, we blocked them out with our applause for the soldiers as they came in. I hope I never have to attend another mission, but if one comes up, I would be honored to ride with the PGR. Cory |
