I never met Greg face to face, however speaking with him earlier this year via phone and email, you get to know someone. Gregs recommendations and assistance for me in my time of need to bury my nephew and along with the Southern half of Il. and Iowa will never be forgotten in my mind and of my family. Greg; you have offered your hand to the many people who have come in contact with you, please except Gods hand in the same jesture. Rest assure the good people of the Illinois PGR will take you home to your final resting place. My entire family from Plainfield Il and Norfolk Virginia pray for the Bowman family in this time of bereavement. Ride on brother. Rest in Peace.

SHORT NOTICE - Pvt. Randol S. Shelton, 22, Schiller Park, IL. - 11,12,13 Sept. 07 CPL Keith A. Nurnberg, Spring Grove/Richmond, IL, Pell Lake, WI 13, 14, 15 Sep 07 Senior PGR Ride Captain, Greg Bowman, Princeton, IL - 14, 15 Sep 07
3 Missions. Of course I want to stand for Greg. He was one of us. But it must have been Greg's spirit that spoke to me last night. "Remember The Mission." Would Greg want me to stand for him and ignore 2 soldiers who died on foreign soil defending our freedom? Without question the answer is NO. So while I will not be standing the flag line in Princeton, I will still be standing to Honor Greg Bowman, Senior Ride Captain of The Patriot Guard Riders in Illinois. And I respectfully ask that every PGR member who did not know Greg personally, join me. Reading these posts, there are plenty of members who considered him a friend to stand for Greg. Let's leave that Honor to them. There are 2 other Brave young True American Heroes who need us right now. And I'm certain Greg would have wanted it that way.
My thoughts and Prayers are with the Bowmans and their extended PGR Family. If it weren't for Leaders like Greg, the PGR wouldn't be anywhere near as great. |

It's now exactly 24 hrs since receiving the devastating news of Greg; the tears still flow. I met Greg only last month, in Stockton, at the memorial for Sgt Andy Lancaster, answering his call for "crowd control". The week-end was spent with my new Friend & his brother, Mike; what an honor to be in the presence of them and fellow Patriot Guard Riders; my first mission, following their lead. I still chuckle at Greg's comment about not too many out in our small rural community having "purple" hair; that was one of the ways he was to know who was arriving to help. The utmost respect developed for Greg.
The mission for Andy was the first in our small rural area. With knowing Andy's family, I cannot tell you how eternally grateful they, along with the community, are because of the genuine personal care/respect Greg & Mike demonstrated throughout the entire wk-end. The Stockton community is now feeling the loss of a Friend, especially with the fact that his last ride here on earth was in Stockton.
We've all been blessed by knowing Greg.
My sincerest condolences for Mike and Greg's Family. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Even though I'm a new member of the PGR, I had the privledge of standing with Greg on a couple of recent missions. You never fully realize that you are amongst truly great men untill that one is gone. The men and women of PGR are such humble people that you never know who you might be standing next to. Little did I know of the accomplishments and greatness of Senior PGR Ride Captain Greg Bowman. I am proud to have stood with him. To the Bowman family, I am so sorry for your loss. He is gone, but will never be forgotten.

You learn a little more about people when you read what others write. Greg Bowman was not only a caring Patriot from a family of stalwart Patriots. He was not just a Ride Captain for the PGR. He obviously touched many lives and made a true difference in so many ways. His family can only be proud of him. We can be proud of him too.
Thank you Greg for your hard work, determination and Patriotism. Your support of our Fallen Heroes has surely given you one heck of a Welcome Home at the pearly gates. Rest in Peace.
Maryland mourns with you. Pegs down for the loss of a Brother.

| No words can express the feeling of loss to those who knew Greg and what he stood for. I ask that God lay his healing and comforting hands on Greg's family and friends and lead them thru these trying times. Cherished memories never fade because our loved one is gone. As long as there is memory they live on in our heart. |

It's now been about a day and a half since I got up early on Monday and found Mike's message. Words still fail me - and will probably continue to do so this weekend. However, tears won't, nor will the determination to help the Bowman family thru this difficult time.
See ya'll in Princeton....

I hope this pic comes throguh. This was the frist mission of many to come, that I was in a flag line with Greg. I did know know him on this day. The mission was for Lance Cpl. Nicholas Anderson, Sauk City, WI.
Notice the Very large wooden flag pole. It would not take him long after this mission to get an even larger one, that he flew on the back of his bike.
And a couple other pics. |

| To the Bowman family, I give my condolences in behalf of my family & staff from the Hermann Funeral Home. I only got to meet Greg at Sgt Andy Lancasters services but he was a man you only had to meet once to concider a friend. Mike and Greg was there to help me in any way I needed, no questions asked, did not need to explain, just got it done. The first thing I done after that service on Sunday emailed Mike a thank you and then joined the PGR. Last Sunday night on the way to the scene of a motorcycle fatality I was sick wondering what friend of mine was killed. As I got out of my van the first thing I asked was who it was, they told me a person from Princeton, I took a deep breath of relief and then saw his vest, my heart sank for the Bowman family they have been through so much and you ask God why. God Speed friend. |

Greg, I'll always remember the first time we met. It was on the escort mission for Pfc Caleb Lufkin. I pulled into the Road Ranger truck stop in Princeton on my 2nd mission with the PGR. I saw some bikes parked in the lot and parked near them. You were the first one to walk over to me and introduce yourself. From then on a great friendship grew during rides in 19 degree weather, rain, sun whatever, it didn't matter only the mission did. I really looked forward to any mission that I knew you would be there because all I had to do was stand with you and I knew it would be a good mission. I will still look forward to any mission because you will still be with me in my heart. To the Bowman family, I offer thanks for Greg and my deepest condolences.
