It was a dark and rainy evening but for myself and the 7 other PGR members who stood in the flag line for Spc. Patton's visitation, we wouldn't have been anywhere else tonight. I probably won't be able to be there Friday night and I have to work on Saturday but I will be thinking of this hero's gift to America on both those days and in the future.

Ride Report for SPC. Christopher G. Patton

Wednesday 12, September 2007, Airport Escort, for SPC. Christopher G. Patton:

When I arrived at Gwinnett County Airport their were several bikes already there,. After greetings were exchanged I was informed the plane was going to be a little late. I met with the LEO's and when over what we would like to do. Met with the funeral director and finalized our plans. We had 22 bikes and 4 cages. We formed a flag line on the tarmac as the plane made it's way to the terminal, once the plane was in place we formed our lines from the front and back of the plane toward the hearse. As our hero was brought from the plane and being taken to the hearse by the Army Honor Guard we were called to attention and saluted our Hero. Lawrenceville Police Dept. Honor Guard was also present to pay their respects.
As the hearse moved away we broke down our flag line and returned to the bikes for the escort to the Wages and Sons Funeral Home. The route that we took was right thru the middle of town. As we approached the first Intersection there were six or seven LEO car lining the side of the street with the Officers standing by their car saluting our Hero. As we reached town we saw people on both sides of the street with flags and their hands over there hearts and some saluting. It was this way all the way thru town. As we approached the Gwinnett Central High School where our Hero attended we saw two ladder trucks with the ladders extended and a large flag suspended between them. Then the side walk came into site and we saw that the entire high school was standing in honor of our Hero with flags in hand. After passing the school we drove under the flag.
We arrived at Wages and Sons and formed our flag line, we again came to attention and saluted our Hero as he was taken into the funeral home. Several of us went inside after a few minutes and extended our condolences to the family. The family told us how pleased they were with what we do, and we all stated it was an honor to be allowed to pay our respect to their son our Hero.
I would like to express our Thanks to Lt. Carl White, and the Gwinnett Sheriffs Dept., the Gwinnett County Police Dept. Motor Patrol, Lawrenceville Police Dept. Gwinnett County and Lawrenceville Fire Depts. Jeffery Wages and the staff of Wages and Sons Funeral Home. Also Thank you to the students and staff of Gwinnett Central High School, and the people of Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County for their outstanding show of Patriotism and honor to our Hero, SPC. Christopher G. Patton

Thursday 13, September, and Friday 14, September 2007, Visitation:

We set up flag line on both nights for the visitations. On Thursday night we had eight members in the flag line. On Friday night we had sixteen members. On both nights we stayed until Spc. Patton was placed in the hearse and on his way back to the funeral home for the night. Thank you JayDub for standing in for me on Thursday night.

Saturday 15, September, Service for SPC Christopher G. Patton:

We arrived at the Atlanta Vineyards Church, about twenty bikes and a two cages were already there. We chevroned our bike at the entrance to the parking lot, and along the sides of the road leading to the Church. Four bike went to the funeral home to escort our Hero to the Church. Four more were sent to the family residence to escort them to the church. We set up a flag line to receive our Hero as he arrived, we were called to attention and saluted our Hero as he was taken into the church. After the mentor briefing we set the flag lines and received the family and friends. When the service started we broke the lines and had our mission briefing. After the briefing we held back 22 bikes and sent the rest to the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. in groups of five to six bike spaced about five minutes apart. As the service was coming to an end we set the flag line again for our Hero to be placed in the hearse for the trip to Georgia National Cemetery. Moved the line for the family and friends to exit the church and get into their vehicles. We broke the lines and mounted up for the escort to the Cemetery. We sixteen bikes out front, two in front of the hearse two in back, and two behind the family car. The LEO's provided us an escort with one Georgia State Patrol Motor Officer, six Gwinnett County Police Motor Patrol Officers, six Gwinnett County Sheriff Dept. Cars. As we were leaving the Church the Gwinnett County Fire Dept. had set up two Ladder Trucks with the large flag for us to drive under as we departed for the ride to the Cemetery.
Once we arrived at the Cemetery we set our flag lines and were called to attention and saluted our Hero as he was taken to the pavilion for the military portion of the service. When the family was seated we encircled the pavilion with our flags. After the folding of the flag the three volleys of rifle fire, and taps, we put the flag lines back for the family and friends to exit thru. The family and friend left and we broke down the and mounted up for our solemn rides as we went our own ways. we had one hundred plus bikes and close to one hundred and forty members present.
Thank go out again to the LEO's, the Gwinnett County Fire Dept. Jeffery wages and his Staff. Also thank you to all that attended to honor our Hero. Thank you to all the ride captains for you help during this mission.
A special thank you to the family of SPC. Christopher G. Patton for allowing us the honor to be a part of this time in you lives.

Hero Down / Kickstands Up

Firefighters don't choose the fires;
The Armed Forces don't choose the wars.
The alarm sounds: we go.

And then came a rumbling felt - and heard - from miles away. It was the Patriot Guard, As they rumbled away, retired Marine Col. Don Beaver, one the parade's organizers, flashed a smile.

"That," he said, "is the sound of patriotism."
