| Sgt Bonnell, Jr, you are so deeply appreciated. You will not be forgotten. I know my son, also a Marine killed in Al Anbar, along with all our heros who have gone before you, are greeting you with love and honor at heaven's gate. |
|
Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom |

To the family and friends of Sgt. Bonnell, especially his sisters Sarah, Brandy, and Tasha, please know that we hold your Marine in the highest regard as an American Hero. Your loss has not gone unnoticed and it is not in vain.
It saddens me that one so young has paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We are proud of Jon that he would stand between us and those that wish to do us evil. In his short life he has done more for the greater good, and will continue to do good through his sisters, than most can hope to do in a lifetime. For this he is a role-model for us and for his generation.
Go with God, Sgt. Bonnell, He'll take you home. |

| Sarah informed me (and I believe a few others at the visitation) that she is joining the Patriot Riders. She's obviously a brave young girl, just as her brother is a brave young man. A strong family with a strong love for each other. May we all be so blessed. |

Mission complete report:
First of all, I would like to thank Mike Luken for his efforts in getting this mission organized while I was out of town. I would also like to thank all of the other RC's that helped during the various stages of this mission. Lastly, I want to thank all of the PGR members that took time out of their daily lives to honor Sgt. Bonnell. I can't begin to tell you how many times JJ's family and friends thanked us for our support.
The visitation on Sunday saw approximately 15 members on the flag line. It was very hot and there was no shade. We had plenty of water and the funeral home provided more drinks and food. We took plenty of breaks and kept everyone well hydrated. The visitation ended at 6PM per the family's request.
The outpouring of support for the honor mission Monday was very heartwarming. At one point, we counted 60 bikes and over 70 members. However, that number just kept growing with late arrivals right up to the time we left the high school. The final totals were close to 70 bikes and 80 people in attendance. We enjoyed great cooperation from local LEO's and the weather God's gave us a break from the heat. The flag displays were very impressive at both the high school and cemetery. Thanks to all that came to honor this young man.
On a personal note, I want to thank JJ for his service and sacrifice in protecting our freedom. As a brother Marine, it was my great honor to be there to honor him and his family. Semper Fi, Jon, rest in peace.
