To the family and many friends of Pfc. Cummings. My family and I offer or condolences. Branden,s ultimate sacrifice hits very close to home. My son, Capt. Scott Glidden, will be deploying to Ba Qubah in late April to serve with the 1st Cav. We lived in Cocoa for 23 years and return to the area once or twice a year to visit our friends. Cocoa is our home. I will do all that is possible to be there to stand and honor this patriot. To Branden, thank you for having the courage and strength to stand for us. You will never, ever be forgotten.

My prayers are with the family and friends of Pfc. Cummings. I don't get the opportunity to stand in honor of our fallen service members too often due to my work hours, I usually work the weekends, but it looks like I'm in for this one. Standing by in St. Augustine.

Monday, 02/26/07 RIDE REPORT: Upon arrival at the funeral home I met Mr. Charles Cummings. He shared with me the following as he stated. "Tell the people you love that you love them and then hug them." "When you see military persons in uniform please thank them for their service." Mr. Cummings also stated that his heart is heavy for the loss of the three soldiers that were trying to assist his son. Just before the flag line was sent we had a short briefing and prayer. I was amazed by the count over 43 members there for the three hour mission. I believe there were over twenty bikes and several cages. Sean Post brought along blind biker. There were members from all over Florida and members of the Vietnam Veterans of Brevard there. My hat is off to musicmantou (John Mullins), who drove straight through from Huntsville, Al., to show respect for this Fallen Hero and will continue on to Naples, Florida to attend another mission on Wednesday. Thank you Patriot Guard Riders. During the flag line Mr. Charles Cummings made sure that he walked that line and thanked every person there and gave each a firm hand shake.

To say the least it was very gut wrenching when the Father came by and talked to each one of us on Friday night. Tuesday was unbeliveable with over 150 riders there in attendance. What a great showing of colors.

A really great turn out today I was glad to see so many first timers looked like at least 20 or so. I just got home and see that Orange Park is now scheduled for tomorrow. I sure hope that you folks from the east side of Florida can make another good showing as a lot of folks are already committed to Naples. I also got to meet the Blind Biker there today thanks for your support. To John and Bobbie another great job. I'm afraid we don't tell you how much we appreciate ALL that you do. To all who came today thank you.

It was privilege to stand shoulder to shoulder with so many patriots and loyal, honorable Americans, as we paid respect to Pfc. Cummings and his loved ones. My prayers are with all.

Did anyone catch the story on the news? I was so tired I crashed at around 9:00, someone at my office said they saw the story on TV.

It was an honor to stand with all of you. It was awesome to see so many of the Corrections officers there. I'm sure Charlie Cummings was overwhelmed.

Thanks to Sig22, Slowpoke and the rest of the leadership for another outstanding job in organizing and carrying out this mission. As usual, it was a very bittersweet time for me. First and foremost was the profound sadness at the loss of this fine American hero. The world around me started to get all blurry when taps was played. Contrasted with that was the opportunity to renew and make new friendships with my brothers and sisters of the PGR. It was immediately evident that our presence was very much appreciated by the family and friends of Pfc Cummings. Several times I was thanked for being there. In return I mumbled something to the effect that I/we were glad to do it, while inside my head I was thinking, "No, you have it all wrong. I should be thanking you for the honor and privelege of being allowed to be here to pay tribute to this fallen hero."

Until next time we meet, ride safe and may God bless.

"It's the Soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It's the Soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It's the Soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us freedom to demonstrate.

It's the Soldier, not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

And it's the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves the flag,
Whose coffin is draped in the flag,
That allows the protester to burn the flag"

- Father D. E. O'Brien (fmr USMC)
