Just got off the phone with the funeral home.

1st visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Onalaska.

2nd visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Onalaska with the sevice to follow.

Staging time at La Crosse Area Harley Davidson is 8:30 a.m. Saturday the 26. If you cannot find room in the dealer's parking lot, park along the street in front of it. Dealer adress is 1116 Oak Forest Drive, Onalaska WI. 608-783-6112.

I have not yet been told exactly what they would like us to do, but it should be a standard mission. If it isn't we will remain flexible. Bring your flags, your tears and your respect.

I am a friend of Adam's parents. I've been following your postings and printed them for Susan and Pete. I'm so glad that they have invited your organization. The process of getting Adam home, the media, and the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. I continue to struggle with what I can do to best help them through this.

Would your organization allow my husband and I to ride and be in the flag line on Sat.? I can assure you that we are respectful and able. They are afraid that the church of 1000 seats will be overflowing. I have been at Susan's side through this and will be again when the crowds leave and families return to work and their homes. My heart tells me that my place is with your group on Sat. (I am a V.A. nurse of 24 yrs., my husband is an Air Force veteran).

With respect and gratitude,

Mary Lynn Sinclair

Mac emailed her back and said of course!
I phoned her and they are bringing some smaller flags.

Welcome Mary! You are a blessing to the family.

I have a bench in the back of the '53 Ford F600 fire truck that can accomodate 6-8. There are also running boards all the way around too.

For this event, I will have an Air Force flag in addition to the US, WI, USMC, USN, Gadsden "Don't Tread on Me" and Packers flags we usually fly.

We will also have a few smaller American flags for people to hold.

The music we'll play, when and where appropriate, will be Amazing Grace and the Air Force Anthem. Usually we play Anchors Away and the Marine Hymn as well as Stars & Stripes Forever.

We don't get loud, but if needed and directed we can be VERY LOUD! The truck has the original mechanical siren as well as a 100 watt electronic siren/horn/PA and an "aaaooogga" horn.

I've had som e-mails and calls regarding accomodations so here's some info for all.

Here’s the link to the La Crosse Area Visitor & Convention Bureau. http://www.explorelacrosse.com/ It provides more details on lodging, restaurants and events.

As a local, I don’t stay at too many places so I don’t have a lot of current info. Weekends around here usually have some event happening, especially in the summers, so many motels are often booked on Fridays and Saturdays.

The closest motel to the Harley Davidson dealer is the Comfort Inn, but online reservations shows it is booked. The Baymont Inn and Hampton Inn which are also nearby in Onalaska also show they are booked.

A new hotel not too far away is the Stoney Creek Inn for about $80 a night. It is just south of I-90 and east of Hwy 16 at 3060 S Kinney Coulee Rd (turn at the lights on Hwy 16 by the Kwik Trip).

The Microtel is also just east of Hwy 16 but north of I-90 on 3240 N Kinney Coulee Rd. Turn at the lights on Hwy 16 by Woodman’s. The rates are about $50 a night.

The Holiday Inn Express is just a little farther south at 9409 Hwy 16.

In north La Crosse south of I-90 and on Hwys 35/53 there is the Roadstar Inn, Econo Lodge, Exel Inn, Hampron Inn, Midway Motor Lodge, Brookstone Inn and the Super 8. Rates vary from about $60 on up. The Midway and Hampton show they are booked.

It has been my experience that many hotels that show they are booked online may have cancellations. If you call them directly, they may be able to put you on the waiting list.

In Onalaska, there are a number of smaller, local motels on Hwy 35. These are popular with bikers, hunters and fishers. Some overlook Lake Onalaska.

The Onalaska Inn is on the east side of Hwy 35 at 651 2nd Ave S just by the Kwik Trip. It is just down the street so to speak. Call 608-783-2270

A bed & breakfast is the Lumber Baron Inn on the west side of Hwy 35 and overlooking Lake Onalaska. It is at 421 2nd Ave N 608-781-8938.

Shadow Run Lodges is on the east side of Hwy 35 overlooking the lake. 710 2nd Ave N. 608-783-0020

The Lake Motel is on the east side of Hwy 35 at 926 2nd Ave N and is a one story mom and pop type motel from the 50s or 60s. 608-783-3348

The Edgewater Motel is another mom and pop type motel from the 50s or 60s a little farther north. It is also on the east side of Hwy 35 but at 5325 Hwy 35. 608-783-2286.

If you are looking for some local food instead of the chain restaurants, try the Lakeview Restaurant & Lounge. It is on the west side of Hwy 35 overlooking the lake. They have won a number of awards, serve buffalo and have a good variety of food.

Another popular place is Chicken, Steak & Chocolate Cake next to Shadow Run Lodge.

If you like something a bit fancier, try the Seven Bridges Restaurant on the east side at 910 2nd Ave N.

Camping is also available nearby for those that prefer to be outdoors.

Bluebird Springs is in a nice little coulee to the east of La Crosse at N2833 Smith Valley Rd. 608-781-2267.

Lake Neshonoc Campground in West Salem is about 15 miles to the east. 608-786-1792.

Veterans Memorial Park is just east of West Salem off Hwy 16. 608-786-4011

I hope this helps!

I assume someone will set a Twin Cities staging area to leave from and meet the riders in Rochester? So when that time and place are set, Dave and I would like to arrange a north metro (Anoka, Ramsey, Champlin, etc.) staging area to meet and ride down to that TC staging area.  We are considering a place now. We would be honored to lead a north metro group, and will update that info. asap. A tentative meeting area is the Holiday station on 169 in Champlin, however I need to find out if they are open that early in the am to gas up, etc. (as it will likely have to be a 4-5 am time frame).

I will be keeping a close eye on this thread for Metro and MN staging area updates, and update my info as I find out. If you would like to ride with us, we'd love to have you, so feel free to contact me directly via email...

Looks like the Twin Cities staging area is in Inver Grove Heights. So as soon as I hear time frames I will post my North Metro staging info. Again, this would be for anyone in the Big Lake, Elk River, Ramsey, Anoka, Champlin, Brooklyn Park, Osseo, etc. area that would like to join us and head to the Inver Grove Heights staging area. We will likely head down 169 to crosstown (62) east to 52 south.

More info. to follow asap.

I'm nothing official, but 3x5' American flags, some water, and food for yourself seem to be the main things.

Ride Captains - let me know if there's anything I can help with. I'll still have some room in my car after the water and subs, so let me know if I need to bring anything. I'll be going with the group from Mankato.

Nicholas...
Thanks so much for the info
I remember seeing something on this website about the flag size... how to make a collapsable pole and a lot of other helpful info... kind of a checklist type of thing. I just can't see to find it again when I want it.... isn't that always the way?
Thanks for the info

Looks like my plans got changed at work.  Gotta do the overtime thing.  I'll have to pass on this mission, though my thoughts are with the family and friends of this fine, young Warrior.  Please ride safe, and know that my thoughts are with the masses at his funeral, and with you on your Mission to and from Wisconsin.

Dan, it's a 3'X5' flag. I used a collapsable paint pole from home depot although it's probably available at any store that sells paint products. you may need to do some drilling to afix the flag to the pole but it worth all the time to put into it.

Attn: Minnesota Riders - Time and location have been finalized as follows:

Meet at the new Stewartville Kwik Trip at the intersection of I-90 and Hwy 63. The Kwik Trip is ¾ mile south of the I-90 bridge on the West side of Hwy 63.

6:30 am Stage at Stewartville Kwik Trip

6:50 am Ride Briefing

7:00 am Kick Stands Up

8:25 am Arrive at LaCrosse Harley Davidson

Follow instructions from here on. The exact mission is unknown but assumed to be standard, so be flexible.

The new Kwik Trip in Stewartville is a busy truck stop with heavy semi traffic, but on a dead-end road. When you arrive, fuel up as needed, and then fall in line to the west of Kwik Trip on Schumacher Drive, 2x2 for an easy exit. If needed, the Builders-Choice parking lot is available for overflow. The road may have soft asphalt, so bring a kickstand puck or can.

We will be traveling at Interstate speeds (70mph) If this is beyond your riding skills or comfort level, please cage it, or pass on this mission.

Also, many general mission questions can be answered on the site’s FAQ area. Please read!
