I will honor this American Hero at noon on Saturday.

I will not have time to get a condolence book together and to a volunteer to deliver by Saturday. But if anyone has access to a family member or friend - Please give them my email address pperkinskard@excite.com. I would be honored to put a book together for the family and send it to them in the mail.

I tried to figure out a way to make this work, but I don't think there is anyway I could make it. I wouldn't be helping anyone to put myself in danger by pushing myself beyond my limits.

Know that I will be remembering MCPO Brashear from here. My prayers and eternal thanks go out for this man and his family.

I, as every Chief Petty Officer, has felt a deep loss at the passing of Master Chief Brashear. I wish that I could say something eloquent for his family, but I can only say, I, and every Chief Petty Officer, active, reserve, or retired, grieve with you on your loss. You truely had a great man, and we all thank you for his service, as well as your service (because every family serves, right along with the military member.) May God bless you and strengthen you. Master Chief, We have the watch.

I will be there with you in spirit.

Heaven's Goat Locker has a new, strong Member.  Master Chief, you were an inspriation to this Chief when he was but a Seaman.  Even in 1977, long before the movie, you were held up as an example to young Sailors as the epitome of what it meant not to quit.  Thanks for your service and example.  I wish I could ride to honor you, but duty has me elsewhere...

Eternal Father Strong to Save, welcome Carl home, his watch is done.  Amen

My condolences to the family and friends of Master Chief Brashear.   I will not be able honor this hero in person but I will do so in spirit.   Chief Brashear's life should be an inspiration to us all.   I shared his accomplishments with my daughter who had not yet seen his story.   What he endured both physically and mentally is beyond comprehension.   His photo should be in the dictionary next to the word Courage.

Thank you Master Chief, I know you are in a special place.

There is no template for Heroes.  They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.   You are truly a hero to all.

It is with deep sorrow that I morn the passing of a great Navy man such as Master Chief Carl M. Brashear. His courage and determination is the stuff that makes this nation and our military so great. My only regret is that I don't live closer so if the family invites the PGR to the funeral that I could attend in person to pay my respects to this American Hero.

Woody and Kat,

After a rally point is decided, Smurf and I will meet up with you and we will gladly ride on to the cemetary and participate in the flag corridor. He is a great American HERO and I feel honored to take part in anyway possible. There is going to be enough confusion already at LAB.

Men of valor that have dedicated themselves to leaving a mark will never die. MCPO Brashear is one who will never be forgotten because he not only left a mark as an American Hero, but he also raised humanity with his very presence. The Nation mourns the loss of one of it's geatest sons but history adds a page to it's book of immortals.

Rest in Peace MCPO Brashear. May your waters be eternally calm and your depths eternally clear.

To the Family of MCPO Carl Brashear,

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter. The United States has lost one of its greatest inspirations and shall never be the same. I truly believe that I am a better man for knowing the story of MCPO Brashear; he has touched my life in ways that I can't begin to put to words. Please know that my prayers, thoughts, and tears are with you as we celebrate the life of this great American.

Respectfully,

Carl, A lot has been said already. I wish I could have met you in person. Your "Gold Stripes & Chevron's", say a lot about you; the way you lived, the leadership you showed, the example you set, not only for the proverbial African-American, but for all the other races of the World. Your courage was of the highest accord, beyond approach. I offer my thanks to you and your family for all you stood for, fought for, and were successful in achieving. May our Heavenly Father, watch over and keep your family in this time of grief. You, Sir, are in a far better place than any of us. I salute you and shall look forward to meeting you.
