| What an experience. There is no way to describe the feeling I received, when I was hugged by Kyle's family members and thanked for being there. We shoud all be very proud to have been there, and to have given some comfort to the family. I was also very proud to have stood shoulder to shoulder with the other PGR members. Thanks Guys. |

Chris is probably on his way home about now. I just wanted to post and say how gratifying it was to have been a part of the events today. I am profoundly sorry that we have laid to rest another fine young man. May he rest in peace. God was looking out for us today. I made it home, put up the bike and then the rains started.
I'm sure that there will be several ride reports to follow, but I would appreciate it if everyone would wait until the Ride Captain posts his and then add yours to the thread. |

Folks, Thank you for taking time out to support Kyle his family and our town. It was greatly appreciated. I live approx a mile from the church and my wife could hear the motorcycles drowning out the WBC cult. Please ride safely and you all will be in our prayers. May God Bless the PGR. Fallen Marine Returns Home
Hundreds of people
lined city streets and county highways in Jefferson county Wednesday
night for the final homecoming of a Marine killed in Iraq.
Lance Corporal
Jonathan Kyle Price was killed on January 13th by small arms fire.
People came out in droves to show their respect to the fallen hero. As
the hearse passed, family members seemed overwhelmed by the support.
"The people really shows appreciation and that they really do care what
he had to give up for doing what he does for this country," said Brandy
Sharp of Opdyke.
Visitation for Lance
Corporal Kyle Price will be held Thursday starting at 4:00 p.m. at the
Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be held
Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodlawn Christian Church, with burial to
follow at Knob Hill Cemetery.

Since I'm not a very eloquent speaker, I'll try my best to convey my thoughts
Mementoes of the mind,
1. To all those who were concerned about our positioning, let me rest your minds by saying that NO outside noise was heard other than the sweet sounds of Engines. How do I know? An un-named member of PGR, with the assistance of an un-named Family friend, Rank and Branch unknown, proceeded on a Recon patrol by crossing over the police lines. Near the entrance of the Church, no outside interference was noted.
2. Many were concerned that our placement would still allow visual contact from friends and family. Again, no need to worry, placement of Specialty Vans by the LEO's, blocked all view in the target area. Above Recon confirmed.
3. I'm never very good with addressing the family and friends of the fallen, but it was made easier that day. So many of them approached our area, thanking us for being there to pay our respects. One special moment sticks in my mind. Kyle's stepfather, along with Kyle's younger brother, approached me and introduced themselves, I of course passed on my personal thoughts to him, and he asked me to please pass on to all those that attended how truly greatful he was for our participation. Then very suprisingly he asked me what time it was, after I told him he said, ya know, I have enough time and I'd like to go thank everyone personally. I know we didn't make it to everyone, and I do want to appologise to the Rider who Fired up his scoot, and allowed Kyle's brother to twist the wick, and make a little noise himself. I hope your rev limiter was working, but I do know, that on this sad day, you did bring a smile to a young mans face.
4. Small towns and the Love and affection which is shown still blows me away. The procession from the church to the Cemetery, could bring a grown man to moisture. I'm not sure of what company did this, I was too touched to even look at the name. They let their employees out to stand the route, with hands over their hearts and flags in their hand. Mentioned earlier, a school bus, pulled to the side of the road, and all the children, and I'm only guessing on their age range of 8 to 12 also caught my attention. Some of the older children had their hands over their hearts, and a few very young boys, rendered a hand salute as we all passed by. People in the fields working came to the edge of the roadside, paying their respects, as we all were, to this fallen Hero.
A special thanks, goes out to the local LEO's in attendance, we all know you have a job to do, and you did so, in the background with professionalism.
A job well done by all who attended, and a big heads up to Chris for all of his hard work on this mission
Kyle will be remembered by his Family, friends, community, and most of all by me....
Respects,
Ed |

Howdy all. Woodlawn was my second ride. It doesn't get any easier, knowing we have lost another brave American partriot and knowing the great loss and sorrow of the family. Having my youngest currently serving in the Corps brings it very close to home and very personal to us. It scares me to think about how easily it could be our son.
I spoke with my son this last Thursday, he's overseas right now, 32nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, Forced Recon. I had emailed him the link on the Evansville ride. He had his team with him while we talked and they had lots of questions. I answered them as best I could. They "all" asked me to tell you that they are so very proud of what the PGR is doing and how much it means to them to know that if they have to make that "sacrifice", that we will be there to protect their families. For me to be talking to these heros and for them to be so proud of what we're doing, it made me choke up and speechless.
Anyhow, just wanted to forward that message from "the Team" and thank you all for being there and allowing me to be a part of it. It's not often a Marine's father has the opportunity to do something that makes his son so proud, usually it's the other way around.

21 Jan 2006 5:50 AM Delete Edit Quote Reply Alert AFTER ACTION REPORT – LCPL JONATHAN “KYLE” PRICE, USMC – Departed at 5 am from Quincy. Everything loaded in the trailer. Second check, I am good. Started down the Illinois side of the Mississippi River (to avoid St. Louis traffic). After getting about 50 miles from home, I remembered that I forgot my big bike flag. Just had too much running through my mind about the day.
The trip to Woodlawn was uneventful and arrived ahead of schedule to unload the Vstar 1100 and check out the area. Met Captain Duncan from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office and several local firefighters. I received a warm welcome from everyone that I can into contact with.
Proceeded back to the high school where several riders in cages had arrived and I think SgtJamie and Scott Harper and his wife Juanita was the first to arrive. The gates of biker heaven opened up. One by one and 10 by 10 the bikes and cage riders started showing up. I was truly impressed and know that this turnout was larger than Virden and Mt Carmel. I had made up 200 “Riding in Memory” cards with lapel pins, so we proceeded to hand them out by the fistfuls to all riders (big and small) and had ride waivers with a ride etiquette statement posted on the back. Wescoot2's wife and SgtJamie took care of all my administrative work. Great teamwork. All in all, I would estimate 40-50 motorcycles and15-20 cages. I had ride captains from Mo (Rough Rider), Il (Wescott2), Indiana (Hotrod1938), Kentucky (dtswood), and the State Captain for Illinois (Attitude). Man what a turnout for Kyle. Our never ending support from the American Legion Riders were there as well as Abate and several other outstanding patriot rider groups like CMA. The 200 “Riding in Memory” cards were gone in no time.
Several local LEO officers and state patrol stopped and chatted. I proceeded to ride the proposed route with Captain Duncan and we went back for a pre-ride brief. Just about that time, the local McDonald's manager stopped by and dropped off free food cards for the riders and the school superintendent opened the school for the riders, if they needed a comfort break. The catfight amongst several female riders proceded then concerning line up rights (LOL).
Kyle’s natural father stopped by with his family and thanked all of us for being there. This was a private moment for him and we appreciated it and let him know just how much we appreciated Kyle’s service to our country. We pre-briefed the ride at 1130, let the sheriff's department make their comments concerning the services and we saddled up with a police escort. Our American Flag led the way (by one of the biggest bikers I had seen in awhile) and his lady. We were in place at 12 pm.
Our area was pre-staged just behind the funeral procession and all riders dismounted. A few stayed at their scoots to ensure the rumble of the exhaust pipes were heard throughout the community. It help in assisting some outside background noise from disturbing our thought about Kyle and his family. Every local friend and neighbor came out and thanked the riders for this wondrous background music.
Approximately 15-20 minutes prior to the service, Kyle’s stepfather (John) and little brother came out and greeted the riders. There was thunderous support and clapping for this hero’s father. John and I hugged for 3-4 minutes. The man was touch by our support and his thanks touched me as well to tears. Thank god for sunglasses. The Sheriff came by to personally thank everyone for being there and presented me a mini lapel badge on behalf of Jefferson County.
At 1 pm, all motorcycles went silent, as did the background noises. We listened to the local radio station simulcast Kyle’s service for all to hear. Thanks to the Harley Rider with the stereo.
There was no chitchat or side conversations as we listened to the services.
When they brought Kyle to the hearse, we then escorted the procession to his final resting place. Ron Riley (Honorary Ride Captain) took the lead with the family. Rough Rider, with his American Flag flying, high took the rest of the Guard in tow. I asked the new guy on the Honda VTX to take my right side. He acted surprised but this was his first ride and I knew it would not be his last. All riders were greeted along the procession route by waving American flags for Kyle and at one point some children saluted Lcpl Price and American flags as we rode by. I have to stop this eye-watering thing. We finally came to the cemetery and let the family spent their final moments with Kyle. Rough Rider then proceeded to take down his flag and fold it in honor of Kyle and I was honored to carry it to the family after the services.
We then departed for our family, friends and loved ones with a solemn vow to do this whenever it was needed. I did meet Kyle’s mother, father and Ron at the Baptist church. On behalf of the 4700 Patriot Guard Riders, numerous citizens of our country and a national wrapped in its freedom, I presented the flag to Cheryl and thanked her for allowing the Patriot Guard Riders to be a part of this memorial. We said a tearful goodbye and I knew that we would meet again.
The ride home was without thoughts except for Kyle and my own 2 service children. With almost whiteout conditions near Springfield, I thanked god for men and women like Kyle who have kept me, my family and friends free in this country.
Never take for granted your freedoms. Always remember that others gave their lives so that you may enjoy each day as an AMERICAN. Thank you Kyle and the whole Price family.

21 Jan 2006 11:02 AM Delete Edit Quote Reply Alert Showtime...I think the separation is done by the Police as alot of them still have to learn what we really are about and they can say we did this to make absolutley sure no confrontations happened. Think about it, they have to deal with a group that sound like some weird idiots and then they see the old hollywood biker image type people and they don't know who to trust until they actually see us in action at a mission. Inola, OK had police in riot gear...and they were told to protect the WBC from the bikers as i understood the story. First reaction lot of people haves how can a church group be badder than bikers...then they find out the opposite is true. We were separated by a city block from the WBC in Jenks, OK. Once the cops realized and saw we were the "good guys" they seemed to relax and this is here in a state that has already seen a bunch of funerals simular to this. So its no real surprise if they do separate us far apart...can you really blame em? Put yourself in their shoes. showtime45 Posts: 11 Southern Illinois

And you can see the pgr cagers behind the bikes very well with their flag in the videos. Could you show us what the memory pins looked like as i wonder if they had Kyle's name on it...something Tejas and I would like to see a memory pin with actual names in memorial of the rides we do...
tears in my eyes reading how the family took time to meet with you guys, that really touched me...thanks for sharing the report. It looks like this

21 Jan 2006 5:59 PM Delete Edit Quote Reply Alert I also want to thank WILDABOUTHORSES and his inspired "Riding in Memory of" card. I had little time to come up with any ideas but DTSWOODS idea about a patch and your idea on the sideways dogtag inspired me to create something special for this ride and we handed out over 200 of them. When Kyle's father, John, came to greet us, he did not have one and I thought there was going to be a mad rush for every rider there to take their pins off and provide him and his son one. This family was just the greatest!

21 Jan 2006 9:51 PM Delete Edit Quote Reply Alert Since I'm not a very eloquent speaker, I'll try my best to convey my thoughts
Respects,
Ed

Never with such pride, and yet a heavy heart. Road Captains did a great job. You guys could probably conduct a symphony. It was an honor to ride with PGR and I take great pride in calling myself a member.
Rough Rider, thanks for your patience with the old guy and the old Harley. There is great endurance there, just not long legs...at least for the moment. A makeover will hopefully soon come.
Made it home fine, however, one block away from the house, my headlight fell out...so THAT'S what that clicking was!!

21 Jan 2006 10:01 PM Delete Edit Quote Reply Alert Our State Captain Mike, must be having computer problems, he has asked me to post this, which I received via e-mail...
Ride report: LCPL Jonathan Kyle Price USMC Woodlawn IL. Jan.20,06 This is my first ride report, so please bear with me. I have attended three funerals where the ugs were present. Each time we get better at ignoring them and rendering them impotent. It is important to emphasize to all new members that we are not there because of them but to honor and respect a life given in defense of our freedom. Too many new guys still seem to think that our primary reason for being there is to counter-protest. Two people came with prepared signs. They were asked not to display them and they cooperated. A possible situation of bad publicity was defused. I suggest that we add this to our pre-ride discussion---NO SIGNS. Chris Brocksmith, Permanent Ride Captain for Illinois was assigned to lead this mission. He did an excellent job of dealing with all aspects of the ride. We assembled at Woodlawn High School at 11:00 AM as scheduled. That gave us a little time to meet a lot of about 100 riders that showed up. At 11:30 the Sheriff spoke with us. She provided us with our location at the church and some details as to where and when we could expect to see the uninvited guests. Then we mounted up and left for the short ride to the church where the funeral service was to be held. The ugs arrived at their appointed time and for 30 minutes we keep our engines revved. Whenever the ugs tried to disrupt the funeral we added another engine. There were several times when we were asked by the LEO present to raise the engine noise level to drown them out. I have never seen 100 bikers happier to comply with a request from LEO in my life! There was no verbal confrontation. It was the best that I've seen so far. Chris also handled the press very professionally. The PGR came from over 300 miles away and from at least 3 other states that I know of. Ride Captains, State Captains and Riders from Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky were all represented. There were quite a few four wheelers, too. I don’t think I missed anyone, but with so many people there I could have. If I did, I’m sorry. I’m sure you will post and let us know. Chris had some PGR name badges made up. You know, the plastic kind that you see that usually say “Hi, My Name Is…,” but he had them made with “Riding in Memory of Lance Corporal Jonathan Kyle Price, USMC” When a rider signed a ride wavier we gave them a pin. It worked great and I think it was a very nice touch. The uninvited guests left without incident and we all stayed for funeral service. We were able to hear it on several radios because it was broadcast live in its entirety. When it was over we followed the family and a procession of what seemed to be several hundred 4-wheeled vehicles to the cemetery for LCPL Price’s burial. The 8-mile ride took at least an hour. We opted not to follow them to the gravesite because the road was gravel and overcrowded. Rough Rider was on the lead bike with a large American Flag. At the conclusion of the ride to the cemetery, the colors were struck, properly folded and given to Chris for presentation to the family. The day began with a gloomy forecast of rain starting about 2 or 3 PM. By the time we got to the cemetery the rain still had not come and it held off as most of us started home about 5 PM. I’m sure that God was watching over us and allowed us to ride home safely. There were several TV stations represented today and we will wait to see what makes the 6:00 news. All in all, it was another successful mission for PGR and I am extremely proud to be a part of it. I am extremely lucky to have Chris as a Ride Captain. He is an asset to this organization and Illinois is very proud to have him. Respectfully Submitted, Mike Illinois SC

22 Jan 2006 10:58 PM Delete Edit Quote Reply Alert PGR, thank you all so much for attending. I was really glad to get to ride with all of you, however, I didn't get to meet hardly anyone. Again, I knew Kyle, so I was first, a mourner, and second a biker. The family is so greatful for the overwhelming response, I've heard John Hunsell (dad) say thank you so many times. I told him Thank You. We are the ones that should be thanking him and Kyle for his sacrifice for our freedoms. If you haven't heard the sound clip of the poems read during the service, please check out the KSDK articles and video clips. The poems really say so much. Some numbers for everyone. Wednesday night at 11:30, when Kyle's body was brought into town the first time, over 1,000 people lined the roads in respect. At the visitation, 1,200 people came, and the funeral brought 800 and then all the community members who waited outside their homes to pay respect to the processional and thiose who listened on the radio. This has been a really hard week, but when I see all the support and respect shown, I have to step back and smile and see what America is all about.

23 Jan 2006 1:06 PM Delete Edit Quote Reply Alert It was my honor and privilege to ride in memory of LCPL Price on this, my first mission. It was also my proud honor to ride with Rough Rider and the St. Louis area contingent to and from Woodlawn.
I'd like to echo the kudos given to Chris and all of the ride captains/state captains present who assisted. Whether directing operations or talking to media it was clear that things were in capable hands.
Words can't express the overwhelming emotion I felt to see the gratitude expressed by the friends and family for our presence, to see the turnout for this local (and national) hero, to ride in the solemn procession past the sheriff's salute, and particularly to see the kids off of that school bus paying their respect.
None of us here are surprised that riders came from many states to pay honor, but it was easy to see that friends, family and media who asked were stunned that riders were willing to come such distances. Although I said it to those with whom I shook hands, I still don't think that many realized that it was our honor to be there.
Lee (and all from St. Louis), let me say again that I was proud to ride with you there and back. I didn't mention it at the time, but up until now my riding consisted mainly of daily commutes - 20 miles each way. This was my longest ride yet, and although I kept fidgeting to restore backside blood flow and shake out muscle stiffness, I'll gladly do it the next time called. Thankfully we didn't have to deal with the expected rain, although I kept cursing the cross-winds!
BTW, SgtFly, I'll pay you back that tank of gas the next time we ride together. I'm glad to hear you made it (nearly) home safely on that old blue Harley.

Howdy Chris, Thought you may like to hear this. I was talking to a friend of mine, she was telling me about neighbor/friend that just had a grandson killed in Iraq and they had the funeral last friday. It was Kyle Price. I went to the local Legion today on the hopes of him being there. He was. I introduced myself and told him I was at the ride. The man, 6' 2" 250lbs stood up in the middle of the legion and hugged me. He had tears in his eyes. We sat and talked about the day and about Kyle. He was very greatful for the honoring of his grandson and thougth that what we did was wonderful. I t really meant a lot to him and his family. It made me very proud to be associated with you and all the other PGR folks. PS He told me that during the visitation that a guy came up to him and John, he apologized for not being able to talk to the mother, but he couldn't face her. He explained that he had gotten a call from his son, a Marine in Iraq. He was there the day Kyle died. He told his dad that Kyle protected him and took the bullet for him. The guy then said if it weren't for your son, I'd be doing this for my son. That's why he couldn't face the mom. So here we are two old guys sitting in the Legion, a beer in front of us, speechless with tears running down our cheeks. Semper Fi Randy Thank you Randy for sharing this experience.
