Okay.......from what I've gathered so far the riders are supposed to meet in LeMars at the United Methodist Church and then ride to Sioux Center to assemble at the High School library at 12:15.  What time are we all supposed to be at the Methodist church in LeMars?  Will we be stopping somewhere on the edge of Sioux Center to unfurl our large flags??  Any more information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Bartman

There are some of us coming down from the north on Hwy 75--LeMars is well out of our way. Is there any a spot in Sioux Center that we can join the group and ride with to the High School?

A Walmart would be great--nice visible location, plus restrooms, etc while we wait for the main group.

There is also a gas station on that frontage road with snacks and drinks if you end up waiting for a time.  The road captain for the NW Ia ALR is planning on stopping on this frontage road to unfurl the flags and continue on.

Funeral is in Sioux Center on Tuesday, May 30 at 1 pm (1300 hrs.). The funeral director has informed me that they would like to have all veterans and veteran groups to assemble at the Sioux Center High School library at 12:15 and they will have special seating in the high school gymnasium for all of us, as that is where the funeral will be. Be prepared to park our bikes on grass, possibly everyone bring a support for your kickstand. James King has arranged that the riders meet in LeMars at the United Methodist Church at 901 3rd Ave S.E., phone 712-546-4037, Reverend Mike James, pastor. It is 19 mile from LemMars to Sioux Center. If any questions call me @712-722-0392. We have a number of volunteers in town to house people, if anyone needs a place, call me. LETS ROLL!

Thanks,

Bob Helwig

Staging for the Western Iowa and Eastern Nebraska will be at the TA Truck Stop exit 3 Lake Manawa off I-80/29 Tuesday morning at 8am. Clutches out at 8:30.

Just got back from the visitation in Maurice, saw 7 Marines attending. To be honest with you all, the visitation is hard to do. Met the young wife first, seems to be holding up well, considering. Then Dad, good strong grip, offered my condolences then he noticed the PGR pin that I proudly wore on my vest. Grabbed my pin and thanked us for coming, to which I replied that we are not to thank, we are the ones doing the thanking for his sons actions to allow us to be free. To which he grabbed my hand again (and I didn't think I would get it back, like I said, he's got a good strong grip) and thanked me again before introducing me to his wife. Met the 2 sisters, 1 brother and future son-in-law. At the end was 2 Marine friends in full dress blues. Don't care how big and bad you are, it's hard to walk away without a tear in your eye. Maybe thats why we do the things we do for our fellow service men and their families. Like the mission statement says "To show our honor and respect", it's the least we can do.

Just got home after my second mission with the PGR.  Had a great turnout today, (55 to 60 bikes), and it was a pleasure riding with you all.  To the Leusink family, stand proud, the sacrifice made by your loved one has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated!  Thank you to the family, friends, and community,  for having us there today to honor a local hero.  May God be with you all!!

Congratulations PGR, ALR and any one else who rode, another successful mission, Thank you to all who rode. We all felt the angony of loss whether it was today's event or memories from the past. Stand Proud, the honor shown today for a soldier who gave us his all, is beyond anything that I can write here.

God Bless all of you and ride safe.

Till we ride again.

I come home humbled, to have been among such a worthy group of people today. From the Wisconsin bikers who were first to warmly greet me at WalMart and thank me for coming; the representatives of all the branches of service to shake our hands and also say "Thanks for coming;" for all the thumbs up from Lance Cpl. Leusink's family and friends; and the population of Sioux Center who lined the streets to pay respect;' and finally, to the ladies at the Legion serving sandwiches and refusing our thanks, instead saying 'Thank you' to us over and over again.

And to ride down Hwy 75 through the heart of town, on the way to the cemetary, and see that huge flag hanging overhead from the end of a fire truck's ladder in front of the fire hall.....

I am so lucky to be an American.

Here are some pictures I took of my first PGR mission

I was granted the honor of my fourth mission today, we welcomed one of our best home and saw that he arrived at his final duty station at Gods side with the dignity and respect he so richly deserved. May God bless his family, friends and community, they represented the best in American Patriotic spirit today.

Many thanks to the people that put this together and all of the people that made this such a fitting tribute.

PGR family, mission complete. Truly a humbling honor today. Thanks go out to the local LEO's for their eforts to make sure we made it out of LeMars safely, all the way to Sioux Center, and through the town in both directions. They sure do know how to go out of their way to make everyone from all over feel welcome. We even had the privelage to have one of the LEO's join us today on his first mission, in the missing man formation. Job well done PYRO. Thanks to everyone from near and far for showing up, 55-60 bikes from everywhere. Mother nature blessed us with a fine day for riding. Rest well Cpl Leusink and like his wife told me at the visitation "He's keeping an eye on the rest of our soldiers in Iraq". Stopped at a local gas station after the funeral, and the young lady behind the counter thanked us for being there today. she said that as the procession went by that there was not a dry eye anywhere around her. She was right...... It was good to see the community turn-out lining the streets for the procession. Complete businesses were standing outside, banks, dealerships, etc. Little kids waving flags, older Gentlemen saluting or holding their hands over their hearts, people in general showing their respect. Legions from all over attending. the Marines did a fine job in showing their honor and respect. And people thanking us left and right, we thank the Family for letting us pay OUR honor and respect. Its not about us, its about them and their HERO. Like I said earlier "She was right.......". nuff said.
