WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

PA portion of the Mission is complete thanks to the PRG of Central PA, SE PA and the PSP. The PSP, Pennsylvania State Police, gave us an outstanding escort from Philly to the Maryland state line. The Troopers that had the chance to get out of their cars and see and touch what it was that they were escorting were in awe.

David and Phyliss Hall you have given us all something to remember and cherish for the rest of our lives. You have also renewed in us why we do what we do. It was an honor to have been with you and your nephews for those four days. I speak for my fellow Brothers and Sisters in the PGR when I say that the sound of The Peoples Bell will ring in our minds when standing at Missions for our Fallen Heros.

Steve thank you to you and your members for picking up the escort in Harrisburg to Maryland. Barbara, Robin, Erik, Chris and George you made it happen.

Mr. Buckles it was an honor and privlage to have been a small part of your Celebration.

Joe,
When ya wake up and recover a little from the Mission for Mr. Buckles,
how about giving us a little update on the Mission?
How surprised was Mr. Buckles?
We've followed the Bell all week with good reporting of where and when,
Now that the presentation is done, no words.

If you would, please let us know.

Thanks.
Charley

Charley and all...sorry for the delay in replying.  Been trying to recover from the weekend and not sure I've succeeded....yet!...LOL!!!

It was, truly, a momentous, remarkable day!!  One I know I, and a couple hundred others, will never forget.  While I fully understand that Welcome Home missions are very, very special and am not trying to downplay those one bit, having the opportunity to be in the presence of a living, American legend and be a small part of his life...well...that just doesn't come your way very often, but when it does it sure does leave a lasting impression!!!

Mr. Buckles was genuinely thrilled to be given a ride in the side car and saluted as he was being driven through the flag line to his house.  His daughter, Suzannah, also had to opportunity to ride as she accompanied our RC, Gary Gaskins.

To hear the Traveling Liberty Bell tolling in the distance as they were coming up the drive just sent chills and goose bumps up and down everyone's spine!  What a beautiful sound echoing  over the hills of West Virginia!!!  Adding the icing to the cake was everyone having the opportunity to ring the bell at the end of the day's celebration.  I think some were actually fearful of making the crack bigger!!...LOL!!!

Mere words alone, unfortunately, cannot describe the atmosphere of the day.  I would suggest all who are interested to view the mission thread and check out the links to photos that some members took and posted to various sites on the web.  All are located on Page 3 of the thread I believe.  I've submitted well over 100 to be posted in our photo gallery here also.

Once again, my sincere "Thank You" to everyone who participated in escorting the Liberty Bell to West Virginia.  They are now on their way back to Texas, ready, I'm sure, to take it wherever it is needed or requested on a moments notice.

As soon as we receive word of when the footage taken by the various news organizations is to air, I'll post it in the mission thread for any who are interested.
Respects,
Joe
