My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Cpt. Steele. This mission was the first that I have truly been a part of with the Patriot Guard and the acceptance of those who participated on that morning encouraged me to sign up a few moments ago to "officially" become a part of the group. Although I am not a motorcycle owner, I will be standing by for any missions within a hundred miles of the Peoria, Illinois area.
Thank you, again, Captain Steele. Your sacrifice is not forgotten, sir. |

I had the honor of seeing Capt Steele carried through Alexis on his way from the airport. Unfortunately, this was especially difficult for my family and I, as my Father in-law passed away early that morning. We were all gathered at his home as the hearse carrying Capt Steele through town passed by.
As difficult as it was, I know my father-in-law would have been very happy to see the strong showing of support behind the Captain, as he was a strong supporter of our troops, including my brother-in-law 1st Lt Matthew Wiles.
My brother in law has been serving in Iraq, and was home for 2 weeks of leave when my Father in law passed away. He was scheduled to fly back to Iraq yesterday, but received a 2 week extension due to the death. I don't look forward to him leaving in 2 weeks, with a wife and 6 month old son staying behind, but I know that myself and other family members will be there for her while he's gone.
I decided to look up the Patriot Guard Riders and join 'in honor' of my father in law, as I know it would be a cause he would support. I look forward to joining you on future missions. |
