30 Apr 2007 7:24 PM Alert

It was a privilege to stand and honor PFC Lucas Starcevich on Friday.  He has made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

While at the cemetery, I recognized an activist of our veteran’s funerals at Camp Butler on the side.  I whispered to Grace (Inter-veterans Burial Affairs) to join us in our flag line and she eagerly did.  Grace has honored more veterans at Camp Butler than I could ever catch up in my lifetime.  I thought you should know we had a guest in our flag line.  But then, we are all guests of the family.

I now have a forefinger turning black and blue from the addition of an extra grommet in my flag to remember the mission by.

“Lest I keep my complacent way I must remember somewhere out there a person died for me today. As long as there must be war, I ask and I must answer was I worth dying for?”
