***********Final Report-Mission Complete********** Today SSgt. Eric Ross, who gave all on February 9, 2007, was laid to rest at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta. The good Lord blessed us with a beautiful sunny Maine winter's day, which made the cold barely noticeable to those who stood in Respect and Honor. The recent snow and rain gave us frozen banks to place about one-hundred small American flags all around the parking area and around the Orono High School Gymnasium where the service was held. Thanks John, Bunny, Roland, and whomever else supplied the flags. Once again I am humbled and moved by the outpouring of Honor and Respect given by the many organizations that work daily behind the scenes in support of our wounded and fallen. Thank you to the VFW, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans. The Maine Troop Greeters, The Freeport Flag Ladies, and the many other support groups that were present today, and to those of you who picked up our Nations flag and stood with us in line as we Honored our Hero. Of course Thank You to the PGR members who were able to attend this service, and thanks to those of you who could not attend, but offered support and words of Respect. As we were leaving Orono for the Veteran's Cemetery we passed under a huge American Flag suspended by two Fire Dept. ladder trucks, with the Fireman standing at attention, helmets over their hearts. Then, about 50 miles down the interstate was a large group of Law Enforcement trainee's from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, standing at attention in one of the median turn-out area's. Maine PGR - Once again, you did the organization proud by your outpouring of genuine Respect and Honor in a quiet and professional manner. Thanks to all of you who helped with the logistics, preparations, and assistance with this Honor Mission. By request, we also provided assistance in parking vehicles, and directing the flow of traffic. We received many Thank-You's from the Family and friends of Eric. To the Family of SSgt. Eric Ross, we thank YOU for the privilege of allowing us to stand for our Hero. SSgt. Eric Ross, may you rest in peace. Respectfully Submitted Mike Edgecomb Ride Captain |

I may not always know who I am standing next to, but I certainly have no doubt who and what I Stand For! |
