I won't be able to make the staging area because our church service isn't over until noon, but I am planning to make it to the memorial service. I am only about 25 minutes away and should be there by 1:00. If the weather is as predicted (56 and cloudy) I plan on riding to the service.

South Hills in PITTSBURGH:

I plan on leaving the Bridgeville area at about 9:15am on Sunday the 17th of December for the ride to the Misson for PFC Ross A. McGinnis. The ride takes about 2 hours, with a stop or so, we will be looking at arriving at just about stagging time of 11:45am. I will be at the McDonalds on Washington Pike, in Bridgeville, PA which is Exit 54 off I-79. The weather looks good at this time, so I will be riding. Figured we could stop after an hour at the rest area on I79 just south of Grove City, then again when we get off I 80 before riding into Knox. It should be cold enough to warrant a couple of stops and I plan on taking the trike with the two flags which eat up the fuel.

With respect to this Mission, all involved have already thanked us for what we do; the family, the folks from the church, the LEO, the VA and the folks in town. Please keep Ross and his family in your prayers, and remember the unselffish act PFC Ross A. McGinnis did and accomplished when considering this Mission.

I just read about the selfless act of courage and heroism from PFC McGinnis, and I'm humbled. I will forever live in the grateful but considerable shadow of his memory.

To my fellow PGR brothers up in PA, thank you for seeing this Soldier...my brother-in-arms...on his final journey, and ensuring that he is sent-off with the respect and honor that he so deserves.

May God bless all of us in these trying times.

This is just incredible to me. I read the story and cannot stop the tears of sorrow for this family's loss and of pride that PA and our Nation raised such a man, a HERO such as this!

Hollywood, hope you don't mind but I'm posting that again as a link:

PA, If it were possible at ALL for me and mine to be there, this is one mission I would crawl through busted glass to make. As you folks ALWAYS make us proud, please hold a flag in the line for me and for gosh sakes give someone in that family a HUG from Trog!!

SPECIALIST McGinnis! Stand down, soldier! You have truly given all a man can give for his country and his fellow soldiers. I salute you with All I AM! Godspeed, Ross. Godspeed.

Pfc. McGinnis, you have done your duty and more. Your character and honor are confirmed in the most dramitic way. You gave your life for your friends which the Lord tells us is the greatest love. May God now grant you eternal rest and peace. Memory Eternal.

To the friends and family of Pfc. Mcginnis, May God support you and grant you grace to get through this difficult time. Despite the pain of the moment take joy in the knowledge that Ross is a genuine hero, that he sacrificed himself for his friends, he made a noble choice and will always be remembered for it. Most of us just survive day to day, but in a short life he accomplished something great and honorable. I will always remembe him as one of the great men and women who have died for me, so that I and my family could be safe and secure. It is a thought that make one very humble and very grateful. It is a debt I can never pay.
I will be standing by on Sunday with many brothers and sisters similary grateful and at your service.

His parents have an interesting way for you to honor Ross's memory:
His family has suggested for anybody who wishes to make a memorial donation to send something to a service member overseas, a veteran or local service member and present it as a gift from PFC Ross McGinnis.

Gifts to his unit may be sent to:
