I just heard on KSAT TV that the funeral will be on Saturday (Veteran's Day) at 11:30 AM at Eagle's Nest Church and internment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. The church is located at 14015 San Pedro (southbound Hwy 281 just north of Bitters Road) on San Antonio's far north side.

Unfortunately, I will not be able ride on this mission, as I will be in a wedding ceremony for a soldier who is home from two tours in Iraq. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Lance Corporal Holler. He is an American hero. Ride safely and proudly, my friends.

Austin Area PGR Mission and Staging Info:

Folks, date and times for this mission were just confirmed. I realize that we were committed to the Veteran's Day Parade on Saturday, but our first obligation is to our fallen brothers and sisters. We need to stand up and ride for CPL Holler, who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. I'm asking that all who can make this one to please do so. San Antonio PGR is extremely shorthanded due to Veteran's Day committments. Bexarwolf will RC this one with me as his wingman. For parade info and Elk's Lodge luncheon, please contact carrington directly. We have no big flags for this mission, so if your bike is rigged for them, please bring them as they will be doing double duty!

Staging Information: We will stage at Cabela's parking lot in Buda at 0900 with KSU at 0915. From there we will travel directly to the church with an ETA of approx. 1045 so we can set up a corridor for the family. If you are Southbound on I-35, you can use Exit 221 directly in front of HEB. (If you need gas, take Exit 220). For those of you Northbound on I-35, take Exit 221, you'll pass several gas stations going to the second red light and then turn back left under I-35 and get on the Southbound service road which will take you to Cabela's. Ample food is available for those who get there early enough.

Weather for Saturday: High of 70, Low of 44 with 10% chance of rain. It'll be a little cool early, so dress accordingly. Rain gear is always a good idea.

Veterans' Day is for all Veterans, I'll do with my day what I wish, thanks to all Veterans.  Yours is a recently added name and life to a glorious company of Brothers and Sisters, LCpl Holler, thank you for your contribution to my grandchildrens future.  I'll be there holding a flag next to you, BigShell, if you need a shoulder for that bum foot.

Quoting a friend, "It's not always just the journey, when your grandchildren are your destination!" In the names of Sara, Jarrett, Laura, Lucas, Javen and Autumn, I thank our defenders for their individual sacrifices.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1330 hrs at the cemetery for those people who might be able to join up with the group at Ft. We need a staging point and times near the church for those of us coming from places other than Austin, or at least instructions to be at the church at a certain time.

Many of the veterans are involved with veterans day activities so it's up to us non-vets to "cowboy up" and fill the gap. I will be coming in from the northeast Houston area to honor Lance Corporal Holler.

Final SE Texas Itinerary to travel to the services for Cpl Luke Holler - Bulverde Texas - Saturday Nov 11

As it has been the case before,  when we venture out side of our core mission, reality sets in a kicks us in the rear.   The services for Cpl Luke Holler will be this Saturday the 11th.  This is the final itenerary the SE Texas PGR to travel to San Antonio for this fallen hero.

The San Antonio PGR needs our need on this one.  Most of there riders are ALR members and they are already committed with helping the Texas Honor Ride.  The SE Texas PGR and Austin PGR are steping up to help with this mission.

As this will be on Veterans day, I'm asking our PGR non-veterans to consider making this ride.  Let those who have stood watch have their day of appreciation and let's take the watch on this day.

Gary & Gayle will be bringing the flags with us for this mission.

Houston Staging Area:  Loves Truck Stop, 612 Pederson Road , Katy TX.  Exit 737 on I-10 West north side, just  past the Waller County line.

See maps:            large area map               detail location map

Date:  Saturday November 11th

Time:   6:30AM    KSU  7AM Sharp!
We have to get on the road before the Texas Honor Ride as we do not want to get behind there procession to San Antonio.

Travel Distance:  170 Miles

Travel Time:   2.5 Hours
We will make one 20 minute fuel stop break either in Flatonia (80 mile mark) or Luling (108 mile mark) depending on the shortest range of the bikes on the mission.    ETA to the San Antonio staging area  is -9:500AM.

Return Trip:  We will break for lunch after the services then return.  If the traffic is heavy on I-10, I will poll the returning group on if we will stay on I-10 or take Hwy 90 back.

Houston Ride Captain :  JohnnyD    I need a second RC for this mission

Weather Report   Cool in the morning, 55 degrees with a mild high on only 70 degrees only a 10% change on rain

Jack and I both are veterans but our commitment is to our fallen and we will be riding this mission. We both have big flags on our bikes that can be used. Are we going to escort the body from the funeral home to the church or because of small number of PGR available just going to meet at the church? If anyone is interested in hooking up on the south side of San Antonio, we could meet any of you at the Exxon station at 1604 south and IH-37 south (hiway 281) (there's a What-A-Burger behind the Exxon that is open 24 hours a day, if you need a bite to eat) at 9:30 am. Reason being so early..in case of road construction north of the downtown area.

Things are a little tight leadership wise in SA right now.  These are all good questions but it may be a bit before they can be answered.  I'm trying to contact MasterChief now to see what is needed.

I have some work issues I hope to put to bed this morning.  If so, I'll recon the church, funeral home area in case no one else can.  Once I leave work,  I won't be able to check in or post again until I get home this evening.

Thanks for everyones help and support on this.  We will stand tall and silent to show respect for and honor to this Marine.

Really want to join up with this mission. Is there a Church name in Bulverde or Funeral Home to which we can gather? I'll ride to Bude from SA, if I have to, or to Southern SA, if that's what is caled for, but would prefer to ride from near Castroville stright up the road to Bulverde. Please advise via this forum, I'll check it later today. Thanks,

The Final Inspection

THE FINAL
INSPECTION

The Marine stood and faced God,

Which must always come to pass.

He hoped his shoes were shining,

Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Marine,

How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek?

To My Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,

"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.

Because those of us who carry guns,

Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,

And at times my talk was tough.

And sometimes I've been violent,

Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,

That wasn't mine to keep...

Though I worked a lot of overtime,

When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,

Though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God, forgive me,

I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,

Among the people here.

They never wanted me around,

Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,

It needn't be so grand.

I never expected or had too much,

But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,

Where the saints had often trod.

As the Marine waited quietly,

For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you Marine,

You've borne your burdens well.

Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,

You've done your time in Hell."

The Eagle's Nest Church is on 281 just down the access road from Bjorn's Audio/Video. Coming South on 281, take the Bitters Rd exit.

Is there a staging area anywhere near the church as I'm not an ALR and will be coming from the NW side 1604 & I10 area?
