It has been brought to my attention that the route for the escort is taking us into DL and then on to Pelican, I was told this is what the Family wanted, it could be a tough ride and it would be appreciated if only  experienced riders participated due to the nature of the mission, a mission is not a place to learn, enough said Bro Lars

Thanks Lars, well said...this will probably involve some night time riding. RC Don Anderson is handling further arrangements for the escort, this could be 11th hour notification but we are looking at a high probability of Thursday afternoon/evening for the escort portion of this mission. Staging will be similar to previous escorts at Hector Field.

Mission thread will be updated as soon as information is available on this and on the services - this is just a courtesy heads up for those considering riding in the escort.

I regret that I will be unable to attend this mission. I will be on the mission for SPC. Kenneth Cross in Superior, WI.

It is truly a sad day here when we lay to rest two great American Heroes here in the heartland.
I will be riding with you in spirit from a few hundred miles East.

To the family of SSgt. Hanson: the entire state of Minnesota, indeed the entire nation, mourns your loss with you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers as I honor one of his brothers in arms. May God bring you comfort in the knowledge that heroes like Joshua now guard the gates of Heaven.

Metro MN Staging Instructions - September 9, 2006

All Metro MN riders attending the SSG Hanson services in Pelican Rapids, we have the mission itinerary as follows.  This itinerary will apply to all Metro sectors.  Your section RC may coordinate a rally to this point but it is up to him or her.

Please arrive at your rally point at least 10 minutes prior to departure to sign the mission waiver.

5:00 am Arrival at the Holiday in Rogers, MN.  From I-94 West take Exit 207/Hwy 101 North and turn right.  Stay in the  right lane and make your first right on Diamond Lake Road.  The Holiday station is on your right and is next to the Burger King.  Please fuel as necessary to ride 100 miles.  Lennie the Station Manager has promised coffee for all of us!  Stage in the back of the station unless there are tucks there.  Move to the Burger King lot then.  Please sign the mission waiver at this time.

7:00
am    Arrive in Sauk Centre, MN for a gas stop (87 miles) at the Holiday station.  We will take the Hwy 71 exit and go north .5 miles.  The Holiday will be on the right.  We will probably meet up with the Willmar group at this station.

7:45am    No later than kickstands up

9:30am    Arrive in Pelican Rapids, MN (93 miles) by going to the Hwy 59 N exit towards Pelican Rapids from I-94.  We will stop for gas at the Holiday station on 209 S Broadway.  It will be on our right.

10:00am Arrive at Pelican Rapids staging area.  Staging area is to be at the Pelican Rapids Police Department at 33 North Broadway.  We will stage in the parking lot south of the building.

Please check this Forum should anything change, we will post any changes here.

We will be traveling at posted speed limits including Interstate speeds (70mph) riding in staggered formation. If this is beyond your riding skills or comfort level, please follow along behind the group on your own, cage it, or pass on this mission.

Also, many general mission questions can be answered on the site’s FAQ area. Please read!
http://patriotguard.org/PGRFAQ/tabid/250/Default.aspx

Helpful Tips & Hints:
For the Ride
Sign Waiver ASAP upon arrival so you don’t hold up departure time
Staggered Formation, 1 sec / 2 sec window
Steady Throttle
Watch for Road Guards and give them room to re-enter formation

At the Mission
We are here to RESPECT above everything else.
Turn Off Cell Phones & Pagers.
Be tactful when taking pictures. Just remember, would it be appropriate at your funeral?
DO NOT leave during ceremonies. Wait or get a push away and be aware of throttle
UG’s, Turn Back and ignore, PERIOD
Allow 4’ spacing between flags for uniform appearance and so you don’t whip your neighbor
Do not dip the American Flag

Be flexible as things change, work with it. And if you have a question, ask a ride captain.

Be sure to bring plenty of water, something to eat, and appropriate riding gear for the weather forecast. Also bring a 3x5 foot flag and pole (if at all possible).

RC's for the Metro section will be John Redfield and Doug Bley.  Monica Mead, State co-Captain, will attend this mission as well.
